Job Description

Salary: 51940 ETB

Terms of employment: Consultancy

Project duration: 1 year  

Duration of contract: one year with possible extension

Reporting to: Geshiyaro Program Manager

Background

The Geshiyaro project aims to eliminate intestinal worm transmission in the Wolaita Zone through treatment and provision of water and sanitation facilities. The Geshiyaro project at EPHI has collaborative partnership with Federal Ministry of Health, World Vision Ethiopia, Simprints and London Center of Neglected Tropical Disease Research.  The project is looking for high caliber staff for this collaborative project. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of an electronic data capturing system including survey CTO for the project 

  • Adapt computer program to fit to the project activities in the community 

  • Identify and configure equipment to be used for electronic data capture and storage; 

  • Test and refine the electronic data capture system;

  • Work closely with the team (both EPHI and LCNTDR) to design solutions to resolve queries in the field and data collection process;

  • Train the field workers in the use of tablets and software application related to the project;

  • Work with the IT Specialist to ensure secure transfer and storage of the data on the local server;

  • Clean and manage data collected with the Geshiyaro team;

  • Assist with data analysis using R;

  • Run daily quality control checks;

  • Develop protocol for error tracking

  • Generate daily/weekly performance and data quality reports. Track errors and work with global team

  • Demonstrate advanced data management skills, strong understanding of databases and data analysis procedures

  • Use different statistical software such as CSPro, EPI-Info, Stata, SPSS, R etc.

  • Set up data collection phones 

Job Requirements

  • MSC degree in biostatistics  

  • 12+ years proven experiences on  health and health related data management and analysis. Especial experience on data management of NTD programs.

Desired skills and experiences 

  • Experiences in managing big health and research data mainly on NTD data.

    • Training on infections disease epidemiology and R,DHIS 2, STATA,SAS,SPSS, EPI infor,Red Cap, COMM CARE,TABLOW.

    • Analytical skills, technical and computer skills, attention to details, decision making, problem solving, time management and organization skill, high communication skill in English, ability to learn new things, ability to meet deadlines 

    • Professional, enthusiastic, hardworking and “can do” attitude

    • Capable of independently managing time and the tasks associated with a fast-paced research agenda and strong organizational objectives.

    • Demonstrate inter personal communication skills
