Job Description

The Section Finance Head is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, controlling, and supervising the overall activities of the finance functions within National Premix Construction PLC. This role ensures that all payments are settled in accordance with laws and regulations, while providing efficient services to both the company’s clients and staff. Additionally, the Section Finance Head is accountable for the preparation of regular financial reports, financial statements, and other related documentation to ensure the financial health of the company.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, controls and coordinates all the duties and responsibilities of NATIONAL PREMIX Construction PLC’s Financial Service.

  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of financial accounting systems and controls, maintenance of accurate financial information and ensure compliance with the prevailing regulatory and statutory requirements.

  • Direct and manage monitoring processes for budgets and financial transactions, expenditure and investment preparation of books of accounts, establishment of internal controls, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

  • Work with auditors (both internal and external) to facilitate innovation and continuous improvement in operational and financial procedures.

  • Proactively ensure that the business decisions are grounded in sound financial advice and insights by implementing IT systems that support proper information management, analytics and business decision partnership. 

  • Manage the preparation of monthly taxation reports timely submission and payments to relevant tax authorities. 

  • Preparation of annual financial statements and supporting Balance Sheet reconciliation schedules in compliance with IFRS. 

  • Provide financial reports and interpret financial position of the company to managerial staff while recommending further courses of action.

  • Prepare/consolidate annual/operational budgets based on estimates of different work units and conduct variance analysis. 

  • Monitor inflows & outflows of fund & utilization of same. 

  • keep books of accounts and other records for all financial & accounting transactions of the company 

  • Arrange adequate insurance coverage for properties, stock, cash and workmen. 

  • Advise on investment activities and provide strategies that the company should take

  • Maintain the financial health of the National Premix.

  • Analyze costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales results and the National Premix’s actual performance compared to the business plans.

  • Develop trends and projections for the National Premix’s finances.

  • Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.

  • Oversee operations of the finance department, set goals and objectives, and design a framework for these to be met.

  • Manage the preparation of the company’s budget.

  • Liase with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of National Premix finances is maintained.

  • Correspond with various other departments, discussing National Premix plans and agreeing on future paths to be taken.

  • Perform Additional duties as assigned by Finance Manger.

Job Requirements

A. Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related roles within the construction and batching plant industries.

B. Knowledge, Skills, and Competence:

  • Computer Proficiency: Strong ability to use computer applications and financial software.

  • ERP and IFRS Knowledge: Familiarity with ERP systems and IFRS standards.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial data in a clear and concise manner.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Stress Management: Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
