Position: Disability inclusion and Youth Coordinator

Duty Station: Addis Ababa

Duration of Contract:  One-year contract, renewable (with 60 working days of Probation)

Closing date:   January 4, 2025

Under the supervision of the Senior JEOP Manager the post holder will contribute to Reporting to the Head of Program, the Disability Inclusion coordinator supports the Program to ensure full inclusion of persons with disabilities in all program interventions. The Program aims at influencing laws, policies, practices and norms for improved food security by engaging public authorities, men, women and youth with disabilities and other excluded groups. It is a multi-country program and mainstreamed into different program components.

The Disability Inclusion youth coordinator is responsible for program activities being delivered on time, to the required quality standards, and meeting both programmatic and financial targets. S/he manages relationships with a wide range of groups, including consortium partners, Disability Inclusion officers, Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), Local Government Actors and all project stakeholders. The Disability Inclusion Coordinator is also responsible for managing the work of Disability Inclusion Facilitators, allocating and utilizing resources in an efficient manner. The Disability Inclusion coordinator is an expert in project implementation and partnership management and has strong affinity/kinship with disability inclusion. Attends a technical working group meeting with all consortium members at CRS.

Principal Responsibilities

Key Result #1 – Implementation and Coordination

  • Support the project in development of project annual work plans and budgets.

  • Ensure timely and quality implementation of project interventions against set targets.

  • Ensure maximum integration and synergies of the Project with other ongoing interventions.

  • Coordinate the activities of the Disability Inclusion Facilitators and provide coaching and support where needed.

  • Liaises with, and provides updates on progress to, project stakeholders/management and promotes disability inclusive practices.

  • Provide timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, semi/annual reports and other reports as needed or requested in line with project timelines

  • Monitor and guide the project’s implementation of work plan, M&E processes and budgets in line with agreed targets and standards.

  • Ensure appropriate filing and availability of documentation of project information as required for internal and external communications, accountability, audits, and evaluation purposes and reporting.

  • Liaise with the local government and other partners regarding disability inclusive project implementation and opportunities, leveraging their resources to improve sustainability.

  • Participate and represent in key partner engagements and technical working groups at Zonal level.

Key Result #2 –Monitoring, Reporting and partnership/networking

  • Monitor and report on youth and disability inclusive activities, ensuring accountability and adherence to established standards and procedures.

  • Participate in relevant technical working groups and forums to share knowledge and best practices.

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with partner organizations, government agencies, community-based organizations, and OPDs.

  • Provide cascading trainings and capacity building to staff on disability inclusion principles and practices.

  • Ensure the implementation and development of accessible and inclusive programs and services.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of disability and youth inclusion initiatives.

  • Collaborate with the CRS disability and youth inclusion team to develop and implement joint initiatives.

  • Collaborate with the MEAL team to integrate disability and youth perspectives into research, assessments, and evaluations, and ensure the collection of sex, age, and disability disaggregated data.

Education and Experience

  • Advanced degree in social work, disability studies, international development, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in disability inclusion and youth engagement programming, preferably in humanitarian settings.

  • Strong understanding of disability rights and inclusive development principles.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, computer basic skills, including data analysis tools.

  • Fluency in English. 

  • Demonstrated experience in Saving groups methodology, livelihoods, microfinance and IGA methodology

  • Understanding of participatory methodologies for project design, implementation and evaluation.

  • Ability to work independently and produce timely and high-quality results report

⮚ Be familiar with the local Gender Focal Point(s), and go to her/him to learn more about gender issues, or when there is a gender grievance or harassment issue to resolve

⮚ Within each project and department, discuss FH’s Gender & Diversity and Sexual Harassment and sexual exploitation Policies, so that all staff are conversant with them.

⮚ Refrain from any comments or gestures that indicate prejudicial views of female staff, especially female supervisors.

⮚ In each Project and Head Office, ask women staff what changes would make it more “gender-friendly”, organization and implement the recommendations
