Job Description

The Opportunity 

PIE will occasionally offer short-term internships based in one of the program areas within the region or any of the department in the Country Office. This on-the-job training opportunity is open for recent Female graduates to gain experience in their field and determine if they would like to build a career in the humanitarian sector. This programme shall not be considered as an employment within the organization.

The programme Is developed with the aim to support PIE's deliver its corporate social responsibility by;

  • Enabling fresh graduates gain exposure and experience by providing learning opportunities in the humanitarian system through on-job training.

  • Supporting the gender transformation approach and inject experience women in to the job market. 

The main purpose of the internship programme will be to support the development and enhancement of the intern’s professional and educational experience through practical work assignments, to expose the intern to the work of PIE as well as well as promote learning for the intern in department aspects. The intern will ensure general support in any activities/projects and will provide end-user support. The intern will perform tasks to familiarize herself with the function and acquire capacity. The intern will be assigned one relevant and exciting project to plan, develop and implement during the period of her assignment.

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

  • Ensures that the team members under supervision are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;

  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.

  • Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted. 

Job Requirements

  • Fresh graduates from Ethiopian universities/reputable colleges holding a BA degree with G.P.A of 2.5 and above. Graduates who have completed studies in a relevant field of study (as identified by PIE's programs) within the current year or immediately preceding the year of enrollment.

  • Applicants must have excellent academic performance demonstrated by recent university or institution records.

  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Ms Forms, etc.).

  • Essential skills include excellent organization and time management skills, attention to detail, rigor and a strong sense of personal responsibility. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

  • Self-management skills - ability to look beyond the tasks assigned, take ownership of projects and make suggestions on how to improve the role. Handle and respect multiple deadlines while working independently with different agents on several projects.

  • Fluency in English and a local language is required – both verbal and written.
