Chemonics International seeks experienced professionals for the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program - Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project. GHSC-PSM in Ethiopia will serve as vehicle through which USAID will procure and furnish health commodities, provide technical assistance to improve the country’s management of health supply chain and pharmacy service activities, and collaborate with key international stakeholders to support global and local health initiatives. 

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Knowledge Management and Communications (KMC) Freelancer to support our KMC manager in documenting project activities, preparing project updates, and collecting success stories in Ethiopia. The KMC Freelancer will play a crucial role in ensuring effective knowledge sharing and communication within the organization
This position will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with intermittent travel throughout the program’s target regions if required. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Travel and Collect Success Stories:

• Conduct field visits to project sites across Ethiopia to collect success stories and document project achievements.

• Engage with beneficiaries, stakeholders, and project staff to gather relevant information, interviews, and testimonials.

• Prepare detailed success story reports, highlighting project impact and outcomes.

Document with Photos and Videos:

• Capture high-quality photos and short videos that showcase project activities, achievements, and impact.

• Create compelling visual content that effectively communicates the project's objectives and outcomes.

• Submit photos and videos along with a short description/caption that provides context and highlights key messages.

Project Updates:

• Collaborate with the technical team to collect information and updates on project activities, milestones, and challenges.

• Consolidate and synthesize information gathered from the field and technical team into comprehensive project updates.

• Ensure project updates are accurate, well-structured, and aligned with organizational guidelines and standards.

Document Editing:

• Review and edit various project documents, including reports, proposals, and presentations.

• Ensure consistency, clarity, and adherence to organizational branding and style guidelines.

• Provide constructive feedback and suggestions to improve the quality and effectiveness of written materials.

Graphic designer:

• Collaborating with GHSC-PSM project to understand their design needs and objectives.

• Creating visually appealing designs, including branding materials, illustrations, and layouts.

• Developing design concepts, graphics, and layouts based on GHSC-PSM project requirements.

• Incorporating feedback and making revisions to designs as necessary.

• Ensuring designs are aligned with brand guidelines and project specifications.

• Delivering high-quality designs within agreed-upon timelines.

• Keeping up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in graphic design.

• Communicating effectively with GHSC-PSM project to understand their vision and provide design recommendations.

• Managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing tasks effectively.

• Maintaining a strong portfolio showcasing your design skills and expertise.

Additional Tasks:

• Undertake any other tasks assigned by the KMC manager that contribute to the effective implementation of knowledge management and communications activities.

• Collaborate with the KMC team to support the development and implementation of communication strategies and campaigns.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field is preferred.

• Proven experience in knowledge management, communications, or related roles.

• Strong storytelling and writing skills with the ability to create engaging content for different audiences.

• Proficiency in photography and videography, with experience in photo and video editing software.

• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

• Familiarity with development projects and an understanding of the Ethiopian context is an advantage.

• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Duration of assignment

• Based on the need of the organization. 

Supervision

• The Knowledge Management and Communications Freelancer will report directly to the Knowledge Management and Communications Manager.
