Job Overview

The Senior Research Officer in Education will play a pivotal role in leading and coordinating education-related consultancy and training projects. This position requires a highly skilled individual to manage diverse projects, ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management: 

• Conduct thorough reviews of Terms of Reference (ToRs) and actively participate in their interpretation.

• Lead comprehensive literature reviews to inform project design and implementation.

• Develop compelling technical proposals for education-related projects.

• Prepare detailed inception reports, data collection tools, and draft/final reports in collaboration with the team.

• Develop or review data collectors' training manuals.

• Oversee the quality of translated materials, particularly data collection tools.

• Create comprehensive field implementation plans, including detailed staff deployment strategies.

• Develop project-specific training manuals and facilitate training sessions for field staff.

• Facilitate pilot testing of tools and coordinate field activities.

• Provide training to data collectors.

Research and Analysis: 

• Analyze international best practices in education and related fields.

• Produce high-quality research reports in collaboration with experts and external consultants.

• Develop innovative approaches and methodologies to achieve project objectives.

• Contribute to the production of working papers and publish articles in peer-reviewed journals and Frontieri outlets (Insights, policy briefs, etc.).

Client Engagement and Representation: 

• Provide exceptional client service by meeting all requirements within agreed-upon timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

• Collaborate with colleagues to assess and identify technical assistance needs for ongoing and new projects.

• Represent the organization at meetings, workshops, and other relevant platforms.

• Maintain strict confidentiality of all reports and proposals.

• Adhere to organizational core values, policies, and procedures.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements

• PhD in Education, Curriculum, or a related field.

• 5+ years of research and proposal development experience in the field of education, preferably in a consultancy setting.

• Experience working with international, national research, or consultancy firms.

• Proven experience in project management, particularly in education-related projects.

• Experience in large-scale surveys is an added advantage.

• Solid experience in project management, survey management, data management, and analysis.

• Proficiency in qualitative (e.g., ATLAS.ti) and quantitative analysis software (SPSS, STATA, R, KOBO, SurveyCTO, Survey Solutions).
