Job Description

SHAMIDA is a local non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children and women in Ethiopia through various development programs. 

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fundraiser and Event Coordinator to join our team. This role is crucial in driving our fundraising efforts and organizing impactful events that align with our mission to support vulnerable children’s and women.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet organizational goals.

  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors and community partners.

  • Research and identify potential donors, including foundations, corporations, and individual contributors.

  • Maintain a database of donors and track contributions to ensure accurate records.

  • Utilize online fundraising platforms for campaigns and donations.

  • Organize and manage fundraising events such as galas, auctions, and community outreach programs.

  • Define the goals and objectives of each event, ensuring alignment with the NGO's mission.

  • Plan budget for events.

  • Coordinate with vendors, sponsors, and volunteers to ensure smooth event execution.

  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors through regular communication.

  • Prepare reports on donor activity and fundraising progress for executive staff.

  • Develop marketing materials to promote fundraising events and initiatives.

  • Work closely with other departments to align fundraising efforts with overall organizational strategies.

  • Train and manage volunteers.

  • Track contributions and report to the General Manager.

  • Evaluate the success of fundraising events and initiatives to inform future strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with legal reporting requirements related to fundraising activities.

  • Create engaging content for newsletters, social media, and other platforms to raise awareness about the organization’s work.

  • Assist in writing proposals for grants or funding opportunities.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication or any other related fields.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising or event coordination within the NGO sector.

  • Strong communication skills especially English.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office Suite, Canvas and experience with fundraising software.

  • Prior experience in international or local non-governmental organization is a plus.

Salary and compensation

  • Negotiable based on experience, qualifications and organisation scale.
