In Ethiopia, NCA has been operating since 1974, marking 50 years of service in the country this year. NCA’s programs are implemented together with local faith-based partners. NCA is a member of various civil society networks, coordination mechanisms, and clusters in Ethiopia. In its current strategic period (2025-2029), NCA Ethiopia implements programs focused on Climate Resilient Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH); Faith-Based Climate Action; Peacebuilding; Gender-Based Violence/Sexual/ Reproductive Health; and Humanitarian Emergency Response.

Position Title: Community Facilitator
Number Required 1 Position
Supervised by: GBV/SRH Program Officer
Duty Station: Gambella
Length of Contract: Up to June 2025 with a possibility of extension based on fund availability and performance
Basic Salary: ETB 27,000
The community facilitator based in the NCA Gambella field office and under the direct supervision of the GBV/SRH program officer will be responsible for day-to-day implementation, monitoring, and reporting of ending child marriage and prevention of SGBV activities implemented in Jewi refugee camp, Gambella town, Gambella woreda, and Gog woreda. Under the guidance of the program officer, she/he will primarily oversee grassroots communication and activities involving adolescent girls and boys, women of faith, religious leaders, youth, and other structures. The community facilitators will support grassroots community mobilization and awareness-raising efforts in schools, in and out of school safe spaces, faith institutions, etc. through monthly planning, reporting, and regular monitoring. As such, she/he will be responsible for ensuring child safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), disability inclusion other accountability elements are implemented by NCA staff and implementing partners as well as others engaged in the program intervention as per NCA’s standards.
Furthermore, in close consultation with the program officer and in line with NCA’s policies and procedures, the community facilitator will be responsible for establishing and maintaining smooth relationships with grass root faith-based organizations, local government, UNHCR, refugee and host community representatives, youth, and women groups and other stakeholders in the project area. She/he will also support the program officer to represent NCA in different coordination platforms in Gambella region and Jewi refugee camp including Child Protection (CP) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cluster meetings, PSEA network and protection cluster meetings, as well as regional CP/GBV AOR.
Contributes to the development of work plans, monitoring plans, and progress reports of the program.
Conduct frequent field visits monitor project implementation progress and identify and address implementation challenges in collaboration with the GBV/SRH program officer.
Gather data/statistics related to sexual gender-based violence and Child Marriage prevention/reduction in Gambella town.
Participate in the design and implementation of assessments and program review activities.
Engage in partner assessment and partner capacity building.
Work to ensure timely and quality implementation of different projects as per the project document and agreements.
Maintain good working relationships and communication with NCA partners and other major stakeholders.
Contribute to the development of success stories and documentation of best practices of different projects.
Follow-up the women of faith structures, gender clubs, IGA programs established in Gambella town and in the refugee camp
Support the GBV/SRH program officer in organizing and facilitating Planning workshops, campaigns, events, capacity-building initiatives, and other program activities for stakeholders and communities on Ending Violence against Women and Girls (EVAWG).
Facilitate community conversation sessions, safe space sessions, dialogues, and discussions on gender-based violence among the targeted community members.
Compile periodic project reports regarding different interventions like campaigns, dialogue sessions, club activities, community conversations, faith actors’ engagement, and the like.
Provide support to the day-to-day implementation of the EVAWG project related to capacity strengthening of community and religious leaders, women of faith dialogue, advocacy programs, community dialogues, school interventions, and the like
Ensure compliance with donor requirements and NCA financial and other policies and procedures and contribute to the preparation and implementation of grant requirements.
Liaise with internal & external stakeholders as well as other relevant actors at the camp level informing them of cases needing urgent attention
Ensure linkages are made between refugee responses and safe social service provision for refugees affected by child marriage.
Support other programs of NCA such as humanitarian programs in need assessment and other programs.
Support NCA CO and the program team in translating local languages i.e. Anuwa, Nuer, and or Amharic to the English language.
Undertake any other duties as appropriate and within the post holders' capabilities.
Required qualifications:
Diploma in the social science field of study.
A minimum of two years experience working on GBV and SRH-related community work preferably with non-governmental organizations.
Knowledge of the local language is mandatory.
Sound skill of English language communication.
Basic computer skill is required.
Excellent interpersonal skills to promote effective collaboration within the NCA team and across member and partner organizations.
Strong personal integrity and commitment to accountability.
