INTRODUCTION
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), an international non-governmental organization (NGO), has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. DRC promotes and supports solutions to the problems faced by refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and migrants. DRC Ethiopia began operations in 2009 and has been responding to the needs of refugees, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and vulnerable host communities ever since. DRC Ethiopia currently has programs implemented through five area offices (AO) in Gambella, Tigray, Somali (Jijiga & Dollo Ado) and Afar regions, as well as its country office (CO) in Addis Ababa.
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Peacebuilding Assistant will support the implementation of peacebuilding activities, including conflict resolution, community engagement, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at promoting peace and reconciliation. The role will assist the Peacebuilding/Protection Officer in facilitating dialogue, organizing workshops, and supporting community-led peacebuilding efforts.
Assist the Peacebuilding/Protection Officer in implementing peacebuilding project activities at the community level.
Support in organizing workshops, dialogue forums, and training sessions for peace committees and community stakeholders.
Contribute to participatory conflict and conflict sensitivity analyses through community consultations.
Maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, including community leaders, local authorities, and other partners.
Provide logistical and administrative support for project activities, including organizing meetings and preparing materials.
Assist in the establishment and capacity-building of peacebuilding committees, including women and youth, IDPs/returnees/host community representatives.
Ensure proper filing and record-keeping of all project-related documents.
Ensuring smooth coordination with authorities, security providers, and other organizations to avoid duplication of activities.
Monitoring, reporting, and evaluating project implementation, including data collection, maintaining monitoring forms and submitting reports.
Any other related duties as /when assigned by supervisor.
Assist the Team Leader in training all guards and cleaners on policies and procedures and what to do in an emergency, and other relevant fields
Assist The Finance and Admin Team leader in making sure all staff members are trained on HR policies and procedures, Code of Conduct, First Aid and other trainings as part of DRC mandatory trainings package at least once a year.
Deal with all administrative aspects of the general office and housing, including necessary repairs & maintenance are complete in a timely manner, in coordination with the Compound Technician /Assistant.
Create and maintain all relevant administrative documents files.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)
At least one year of professional experience in a similar position.
Good command of English (written, read, and spoken).
Good computer skills (MS Word and MS Excel); able to work under pressure.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience and willingness to travel to field location.
Self-motivated and able to work with a minimum of guidance and supervision.
Relevant NGO experience is preferable.
EDUCATION: (include certificates, licenses, etc.)
BSc degree or Diploma in Peace Studies, Conflict Management, Social Studies or related fields.
LANGUAGE: (indicate fluency level)
Full Proficiency in English languages and Somali language.
