Job Description

positive Action for Development (PAD) is one of the most vibrant and expanding Ethiopian resident Civil Society Organizations in Ethiopia. We are a results-oriented civil society organization that implements efficient, effective, and sustainable charitable organizations in Ethiopia.

Positive Action for Development (PAD) is currently undertaking a dramatic scale-up of intervention focusing on urban destitute peacebuilding and democratization, child protection, Youth Development, Migrant returnees, health and livelihood development low low-income and vulnerable women, children youth, and adults in Ethiopia. This includes expanding PAD intervention into different parts of the country including Addis Ababa, Amhara, Oromia, Harari, and Somali regional states in Ethiopia.

PAD would like to hire a qualified Shelter Coordinator for the programs that will be implemented in Diredawa And surrounding woredas with potential travel as required.

 Overall Responsibilities:Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans for Smuggling and Trafficking Victim Witness. Coordinate with Case Managers counselors, and health professionals to oversee the development and implementation of individualized case plan for a healthy, safe transition to self-sufficiency and stability and/or return to home/family. 

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and maintain positive, professional, and mentoring relationships with youth and staff in accordance with the PAD Mission, Principles, and Core Values.

  • Promote a peaceful, healing environment by utilizing the principles and practices of trauma informed care and positive youth development in all aspects of work and youth engagement, including crisis prevention, intervention, and de-escalation.

  • Supervise intake process and assessments for new and current trafficking victims/survivors.

  • In collaboration with youth, Case Managers and Resident Advisors, oversee the development and implementation of individualized case plans for a healthy, safe transition to self-sufficiency and stability and/or return to home/family.

  • Provide individualized care, support, and follow-up to help human trafficking victims/survivors access community resources and achieve case plan goals including safety plans, specialized counseling, physical and behavioral health care, educational advancement, employment, and life skills in conjunction with referrals to necessary legal and social services.

  • Assist in the reunification of victims/survivors with their families, including contacting families and facilitating travel plans home. 

  • Organize weekly case reviews and communicate regularly with Case Managers to ensure coordinated delivery of service. 

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date information in both electronic and paper case files on human trafficking victims and survivors; complete timely entries into resident matrix, and other information systems as required.

  • Oversee the completion of appropriate documentation (i.e. progress and transition notes; significant event and critical incident forms; overnight and discharge planning; meals, chores, and room inspection forms, etc.)

  • Conduct needs assessment and make appropriate referrals

  • Provide crisis stabilization services and safety planning as needed

  • Monitor ongoing client needs during their stay in the program and implement post-program follow-up 

  • Support the coordination and implementation of all assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.

  • Coordinate communication and facilitate information sharing among the project team, community stakeholders, and project beneficiaries; maintain strong working relationships.

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating actions required to meet the client's health and human services needed.

  • Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules

  • Manage project documentation and reporting

Job Requirements

Education:  

Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, or a related field and/or two years of  related experience

Experience: 

Previous experience working in a shelter or with family violence, gender-based violence, or human trafficking 

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Team-oriented and able to implement a survivor-centered approach to providing services

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other computer software
