Job Description
The purpose of a Livelihoods and Food Security coordinator is to implement delegated area of responsibility. The following is a brief description of the role.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Generic responsibilities
Line management of Food Security and Livelihoods project field staff
Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
Contribute to Food Security and livelihoods strategy development, project proposals and provide input on needs and gaps
Manage and implement delegated portfolio of Food Security and Livelihoods projects (activities, budget and project documentation) as delegated from PM in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements, and ensure high technical quality
Provide regular progress reports to APM (AM and Core Competency Specialists)
Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist
Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities
Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
Specific Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day supervision and support to the Food Security and Livelihoods teams including implementation of Human Resources related processes (recruitment, orientation, training, performance management)
Follow up on weekly meeting and conduct monthly and quarterly meetings and collect accurate and updated information about project activities
Report any problem related to finance, admin and logistics within the Food Security and Livelihood team and the support team to the attention of the Area Manager for resolution
Ensure that the Food Security and Livelihood office and NRC property are kept in a good and secure condition
Ensuring the growth and feasibility of Food Security and Livelihood project in Tigray
Actively promote synergies between NRC’s Food Security and Livelihood and other teams
Any other task relevant to the position as requested by the Supervisor.

Masters/Bachelor’s degree preferably in agriculture, agro-economy, economy, social sciences, development studies or other relevant discipline.
Experience from working in an Food Security and Livelihood project leadership and implementation position in a humanitarian/ recovery context
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts in Ethiopia
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
Knowledge of the context and region.
Experience with start-up, exit or similar.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and creatively.
Excellent computer skills.
