Job Description
Good Neighbors (GN) is a global NGO founded in Korea in 1991, currently operating in 50 countries. Since 1997, the Ethiopian branch has been committed to improving lives through initiatives in child protection, education, health, and more. Good Neighbors Ethiopia (GNE) operates in various regions of Ethiopia, including Addis Ababa, Amhara, Oromia, Tigray, Benishangul Gumuz, Somali, Sidama, South Ethiopia, and Central Ethiopia. Good Neighbors Ethiopia is now launching a new project in Benishangul Gumuz, funded by UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), aimed to Increased number of FDPs are engaged in sustainable livelihood and economic opportunities. GNE is seeking a qualified livelihood Officer (Livestock) individual to join our team.
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Term of Employment: Fixed term 11 months.
Duty Station(s): Assosa Project with frequent field travel

Job Summary:
TheLivelihood Office (Livestock) will implement, and manage programs aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of communities through sustainable livestock management. The specialist will work closely with local farmers, community organizations, and stakeholders to promote best practices in livestock production, health, and marketing.
Program Development:
Implement livestock-focused livelihood programs that align with community needs and organizational goals.
Conduct assessments to identify opportunities for improving livestock-based livelihoods.
Engage in GNE and external working groups and communities of practice on livelihoods to share strategies, research, program successes, discuss challenges, and exchange best practices.
Training and Capacity Building:
Provide training to community members on sustainable livestock management, health care, and breeding practices.
Facilitate workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions to empower local farmers.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Establish indicators for assessing the impact of livestock programs.
Collect and analyze data to measure program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments
Collaboration and Networking:
Build partnerships with local governments, NGOs, and community organizations to enhance program reach and sustainability.
Represent the organization in relevant meetings and forums to advocate for livestock-based livelihood initiatives.
Reporting:
Prepare reports on program activities, outcomes, and recommendations for stakeholders.
Provide regular updates to management on program progress and challenges.
Accountability
Adhere to the GNE Code of Conduct and the zero-tolerance policy for Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA). Ensure accountability to affected populations, uphold humanitarian principles, and contribute to the integration of Protection and Age, Gender, and Diversity (AGD) mainstreaming into GNE programming.
Perform other duties related to the position as assigned by the supervisors.
About You
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Development, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in livestock program management or rural development. NGO experience is preferable
Skills:
Strong understanding of livestock production and health practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge: Familiarity with community development principles and livelihood strategies.
