Job Description

The Opportunity 

The Position holder for NORAD project will work closely with the project team, partners and support with coordination of the project at all levels. The person will provide gender and SRHR technical support in the project planning, implementation, and monitoring to influence gender equality through the intervention, both for women and girls, as well as across social groups. The person will be working on addressing negative social and gender norms that prevent girls and women from enjoying their sexual and reproductive health and rights. The post holder will also support male engagement campaign strategies aimed at transforming practices, attitudes, and beliefs on SRHR issues.

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

  • Ensures that all staff signed safeguarding policies;

  • Implement Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.

Job Requirements

The Individual

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Nursing, Sociology, Social Work at least 3 years relevant experience of which at least one-year experience with NGOs on SRHR and/ or SGBV. 

  • Demonstrated experience on working with SRHR.  

  • Extensive knowledge of the sexual and reproductive health rights and gender equality and girls’ rights.  

  • In-depth knowledge of project cycle management, results-based programming and adolescent, child and youth centered development programming  

  • Knowledge of development issues, trends, challenges and opportunities and implications to community development 

  • Knowledge of effective participatory Monitoring, Evaluation and Research systems and processes 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with colleagues. 

  • Gender analysis and gender mainstreaming skills 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation

Languages required:

  •   Fluency in English language is essential

  •   In addition to Amharic other local Knowledge of Local Languages (Afan Oromo) is Mandatory
