Job Description

The job holder is responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of an organization’s databases. The job holder involved in designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing databases to ensure they meet the needs of the organization and its users. And S/he collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to manage data access, resolve technical issues, and support data-driven decision-making.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Monitor database performance and optimize queries;

  • Design and implement database systems tailored to organizational needs;

  • Ensure database scalability, performance, and reliability;

  • Perform regular backups and develop recovery plans to ensure data integrity;

  • Conduct upgrades and patch management;

  • Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive data;

  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and regulatory standards;

  • Support data analytics by managing access to accurate and organized data;

  • Diagnose and resolve database-related issues;

  • Provide support for end-users and development teams; and

  • Perform related activities as directed by the supervisor.

Functional Competency

  • Strong knowledge of database management systems e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB;

  • Proficiency in SQL and database query optimization;

  • Experience with database backup, recovery, and security practices;

  • Familiarity with data modeling and schema design;

  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail;

  • Understanding of operating systems e.g. Linux, AIX, Windows; and

  • Knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL.

Job Requirements:

Educational and Professional Requirements

  • BSc/MSc degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or a related field of studies.

  • And Certifications such as Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) is a plus.

  • (Three) Years relevant and Proven work experience in IT related specially 2-3 years’ experience as Junior Database Administrator.
