Job Description

The Accountant plays a crucial role in managing the day-to-day accounting functions within the company. This individual will be responsible for overseeing financial transactions, ensuring proper accounting records, and assisting with office administration tasks. The Accountant will also support projects and help streamline administrative functions related to finance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with government offices (e.g., ERCA), banks, clients, ticket offices, and other stakeholders to perform tasks required for office operations and project facilitation.

  • Register office equipment, purchase necessary stationery, and manage stock levels to meet office needs and ensure smooth operations.

  • Manage and track petty cash, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and proper documentation of daily transactions.

  • Ensure the office is well-maintained, including overseeing the provision of refreshments and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.

  • Monitor and ensure the functionality of office equipment such as Wi-Fi, printers, cash registers, and computers, troubleshooting issues as needed.

  • Prepare, review, and process monthly office expenses (e.g., office rent, Wi-Fi, mobile bills, utilities), ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely payments.

  • Oversee payroll processing for staff, ensuring all payments are made correctly and on time, including managing any related deductions.

  • Maintain accurate records of daily, periodic, and project-related expenses, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

  • Perform various banking activities such as deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and ensure accurate transaction records.

  • Maintain and track cheque vouchers, ensuring proper documentation, approval, and compliance with accounting protocols.

  • Issue receipts for payments, including preparing and managing withholding tax receipts and other necessary financial documentation.

  • Handle additional administrative and accounting duties as required by the Finance Head or Project Lead.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or in a related field of study

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of working with cash register machines and handling cash transactions.

  • Strong understanding of office administration and accounting principles.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively with attention to detail.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and accounting software/tools.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail in maintaining financial records.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and teams.
