In Ethiopia, NCA has been operating since 1974, marking 50 years of service in the country this year. NCA’s programs are implemented together with local faith-based partners. NCA is a member of various civil society networks, coordination mechanisms, and clusters in Ethiopia. In its current strategic period (2025-2029), NCA Ethiopia implements programs focused on Climate Resilient Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (CRWASH); Climate and Environment Stewardship/Economic Development and Food Security; Peacebuilding; Gender-Based Violence/Sexual/ Reproductive Health; and Humanitarian Emergency Response.
NCA is a member of the ACT Alliance, a coalition of organizations working together in over 140 countries to create positive and sustainable change in people’s lives.
NCA would like to invite interested and qualified internal/external applicants for the below positions.
The Gambella Field Office Coordinator is required to manage the existing and upcoming grants for refugee response at Gambella Field Office and other grants in the host community. The position holder will be based in Gambella town and lead and coordinate refugee response and hose community programs such as grants from IOM, PADD, NORAD-HUM, UNFPA, ABRONET, and other new and upcoming grans in Gambella region.
The Coordinator will be responsible for the successful completion of projects, advocacy of NCA projects, networking with humanitarian actors in the area analyzing humanitarian needs, and identifying funding opportunities in the refugee context.
In close consultation with implementing partners and in line with NCA’s policies and procedures, the Coordinator will be responsible for establishing and maintaining smooth relationships with faith institutions, government, community, and other stakeholders as well as representing NCA in different coordination platforms and managing staff under supervision.
Oversees planning and execution of Emergency WASH, Livelihoods, GBV, Peace, and other innovative Projects.
Promoting WASH, Livelihoods, GBV, Peace, and other innovative initiatives, policy, and implementation to the different UN agencies, government stakeholders, and development actors.
Ensuring appropriate community involvement in the Emergency WASH, Livelihoods, GBV, Peace, and other innovative project designs and deliveries.
Inspects and analyses project sites, and monitors compliance with Donor and NCA policies, procedures, and regulations.
Assembles project teams assigns individual responsibilities, develops project schedules, and determines and acquires resources needed.
Lead the process to select beneficiaries, formulate cooperatives, and legally establish them as community-based business enterprises following the Cooperative Societies Proclamation in close cooperation with UNHCR and Government counter stakeholders.
Support the cooperatives in contract negotiation with third parties, contract preparation and review, finance management, and documentation.
In close support with the Finance Admin and Log officer/coordinator review the financial utilization status of the project, provide technical support and advice on the money utilization, financial control/check and balance, initiate the installment of budget on time, and follow up the performance of financial management.
Lead, organize, and facilitate the field staff on day-to-day performance and build their capacity.
Supervises field staff and supports activities that drive team performance toward project goals.
Initiate procurement of materials that are required and planned by the project, and follow the procurement process.
Organize, facilitate, and lead a joint team of stakeholders to continue regular monitoring and evaluation.
Ensure proper documentation of the project achievement, challenges, risks, and the way out/mitigation for future learnings.
Develops and maintains project plans and budgets and prepares and analyses project performance reports.
Reviews and evaluates work to ensure quality and timeliness, and ensures quality control.
Oversees project personnel needs including coaching, training, and evaluating employee performance.
Ensure good coordination with Project implementation stakeholders including but not limited to UNCHR, ARRA, and relevant regional Zonal and woreda respective offices.
Advocate for the project impact and importance in different platforms (WASH, Livelihoods, GBV, Peace CASH working group) at Woreda, zonal and inter-agency refugee platforms at regional level existing platforms i.e. Mass media, mini media, coordination meetings, conferences, etc.
Regularly report the overall project progress on a Weekly and monthly basis for the Humanitarian Program Manager.
Required qualifications:
Master's or Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, WASH, Public Health, Nursing, Disaster Risk Management, or Humanitarian Action studies.
A minimum of 5/7 years progressive experience in emergency response context, in developing and promoting collaborative partnerships in emergency and humanitarian relief operations, including experience in managing and coordinating health programs in chronic and acute, sudden onset emergencies.
Required skills & abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and staff management skills.
Excellent English writing and communication skills including report preparation.
Strong organization skills, dynamic, flexible, proactive, coachable, and disciplined
Professionalism, accountability, problem-solving, ability to give positive feedback to partner reports and challenges encountered.
Virtual skills for managing communications, and project monitoring.
