Job Description

Action for Social Development and Environmental Protection Organization (ASDEPO) is an Ethiopian indigenous, “Civil Society Organization” established in 2014. ASDEPO is mandated to operate in all regional states of the country and is engaged indifferent thematic program areas of intervention namely: Humanitarian Response, Education, Health/HIV and AIDS/RH, Women and Youth Economic Empowerment, Gender Based Violence and Child Protection, Migration/Human Trafficking, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (Wash), NTD’s Climate Change, Agriculture, Environmental Protection and Training in Gambella, Oromia, Amhara, Benishangul Gumuz, Afar, SNNPR and Somali Region. 

Currently, ASDEPO is implementing a Food Security and Nutrition-focused project in the following locations:

  • Afar Region (Chifra, Mille, and Gewane)

  • Borena Zone (Miyo, Yabelo)

  • East Hararghe Zone (Babile, Chinaksen)

To support this initiative, ASDEPO is seeking a qualified Project Coordinator  based at its Head Office in Addis Ababa, with frequent travel to project sites in Afar, Borena, and East Hararghe.

Job Summary

The position holder will be responsible to undertaking all tasks for project management of Oromia and Afar region in the implementation of the Food security and Nutrition components of the Programme incorporating government driven PSNP and School feeding program. He/she ensures that quality project deliveries are reflected within the entire project cycle and that all field program implementation is undertaken efficiently and effectively. The position holder technically works with Senior Community Development and Nutrition Officer, Community development and Nutrition Officer and Community facilitators, Government stake Holders and Donors. The post is expected to have proactive engagement in the area of networking and collaboration, learning and knowledge management within the broader organization and with another partner organization. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  •  Coordinating Food and nutrition Security project including supply and use of new   agricultural technologies, inputs for PSNP users, SCHOOL feeding initiatives and use of new nutrition inputs. 

  • Supporting Governmental food security programmes such as the Productive Safety-Net Programme (PSNP), National Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture strategy and Agricultural Growth Program (AGP).

  • Implement the Nutrition Sensitive interventions to align with the Ethiopia’s social protection strategy.

  • Compile, review Monthly Expenditure and Program Report and share to the Program Manager.

  • Working closely with PM and other coordinators to analyze needs in the area and propose activities & locations accordingly.

  •  Provide inputs for the development of a concept note and/or project proposal with other sectors with a view to developing shared and integrated approaches

  • Develop Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP), Project Procurement Plan, Supply Plan at start of a project.

  • Develop M&E tools (APR) for ongoing and new projects in collaboration with MEAL Teams

  • Preparing timely procurement requests according to BoQ and budgets, monitoring and controlling nutrition stocks & consumption in collaboration with supply chain, Logistics, and HO technical teams

  • Organizing and carrying out training sessions, On Job training, Mentoring and Supervision

  • Organize and lead (in collaboration with PM) monthly team meetings to identify challenges and track progress in the program implementation at the different centers and develop action plan and follow up accordingly.

  • Organizing and leading meetings with the team and individual staff members, on both a regular and ad hoc basis

Job Requirements

Qualification:

  • MSc /BSC degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Agriculture and Related field of study.  

Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years of work experience for MSc or 8 years for BSc in managing multidimensional projects on integrated WASH, Health & Nutrition, food security as well as hands-on experience on food & nutrition security focusing on Nutrition specific, climate resilient agriculture, Nutrition sensitive agriculture.
