Job Description
Dan Church Aid (DCA) is a Denmark-based international NGO registered under certificate # 1083 by the Authority for Civil Society Organizations and working to improve the wellbeing of particularly the rural and pre-urban people in Ethiopia. DCA’s Programme mainly focus on save live, building resilience and fighting inequality targeting highly disaster-prone areas in Oromia, Amhara, Afar, South Omo and Gambella regions.
DCA Ethiopia Office is looking for a competent Grant and Communication Officer.
Responsible for supporting DCA ET resource mobilization and external communication efforts. Key duties include developing grant proposals, managing donor relations, coordinating fundraising campaigns, and ensuring effective storytelling through reports, social media, and marketing materials. He/she also play a role in promoting the organization’s visibility, maintaining branding consistency, and engaging stakeholders to enhance support and partnerships. Managing HQ relations related to Communication Teams and task holder of HQ communication visits.
Purpose
Lead or support the drafting of grant proposals and funding applications.
Plan and execute online and offline fundraising initiatives and contribute on identifying new funding opportunities
Provide guidance and build the capacity of DCA staff and partners in donor communication requirements and documentation on stories.
Responsible for DCA Communication strategy
Take the lead in ensuring donor compliance in relation to communication including visibility requirements and communication of project achievements and results. Be responsible for drafting project communication plans in line with donor requirements.
Responsible for providing communication input in relation to business development, e.g. new project proposals, CN, amongst others
Responsible for DCA ET factsheets, Capacity Statements, SoMe platforms and DCA ET Weekly Newsletter (internal) and Project updates/briefs to key donors.
Engagement
Engage with stakeholders, partners, and corporate sponsors to secure funding and collaboration
Oversee media engagement, press releases, and branding to enhance DCA visibility.
Design and distribute brochures, flyers, and write stories and promotional articles highlighting DCA work in Ethiopia in close collaboration with HQ media team.
Prepare articles and press releases to local, Denmark and other media outlets when necessary.
Visit project sites and beneficiaries to compile best practices, success stories, and outcomes of DCA and its partners’ work.
Work with program teams to gather regularly project update contextual information on project activities and beneficiaries for donor communication.
Delivery
Document all the proposals and CN appropriately in PPD
Organize and maintain DCA communication and documentation files on common drive, including newsletters, articles, success stories, fact sheets, capacity statements, and photo amongst others
Organize and update regularly donor contact and strategic update
Organise list of relevant media, newspapers, photographers

Minimum bachelor’s degree in communication and development studies, DRR Management Agriculture and related field from a recognized university.
Minimum five years in communication experience, ideally for an NGO or another organization in development and relief programming.
Adequate working knowledge of requirements and guidelines of donor.
Good Knowledge of project cycle management
Excellent proposal writing skills, with close attention to detail.
Proven track record of developing development and humanitarian program from key institutional donors: USAID, EU, ECHO, BPRM, DANIDA and others, understand their communication requirement.
Excellent English oral and written language skills is required
Ability to effective time management
Strong team and communication management skills
Capacity to work in a busy environment and strategy to manage the workload
Excellent interpersonal skills and the capability to work within different cultural environments.
