Procurement officer for Foreign Procurement
The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI’s research focus is on Biomedical, clinical, vaccine, modern and traditional medicines, and provides supports to the medical industry development.
Armauer Hansen Research Institute planned to recruit energetic and skilful person for the position of Procurement officer.
Communicate with custom clearance agents, regulatory authorities, and Shipping lines to ensure smooth operation of the shipment.
Handle and process documents such as advanced shipping documents like, Commercial invoice, packing slips and bills of lading /Airway bill etc.
Optimize transportation routes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
Prepare shipping documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Implement process improvements to enhance logistics operations.
Provide support for inventory management and warehousing activities.
Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing and other work units
Ensure compliance of legal requirements and company policies, like banks, FDA, Customs and others
Maintain accurate records of all purchases.
Work closely with project managers and Finance department to smoothly run procurement and logistics tasks and related payment requirements.
Timely arrange customs tax, storage payments and collect goods as per Ethiopian customs rule and regulations.
Timely collect Air waybills/Bill of loading from the courier agent and submit it to customs clearance agent.
Apply Pre import, EFDA and other regulatory permits and follow up for the timely approval.
Collect payment receipts on time and submit it to the finance department for proper reconciliation.
Collect customs declaration, timely clear national bank delinquent lists and apply Bank Import permits.
Any other related tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Masters or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
4 years for MA and 6 years for BA degree holders in logistics or supply chain.
Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of transportation regulations and international trade practices.
Required Skills
Strong logistical planning and organizational skills
Ability to multitask and work under pressure
Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite, preferably ERP
Working experience with e-GP
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Knowledge of transportation regulations and international trade practices
Analytical and problem-solving skills
