Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sorts soiled linens (sheets, duvets and pillowcases) according to colors.

• Fills trolleys at the standard weight.

• Ensures washers are alerted on weight of trolleys with less than the standard weight.

• Ensures wet/damp soiled linens are to be separated from dry ones.

• Checks for foreign objects in washing machine drum.

• Ensures washing machine is not overloaded when washing soil linens.

• Ensures enough chemical supplies for the day.

• Ensures chemicals are pumped into washing machine during washing.

• Applies correct formula in washing the different soil linens.

• Ensures all dryers are cleared of dry lint every 2 hours.

• Ensures lint collector are cleared of wet lint at least twice a day.

• Ensures the washed towels are dried to perfect condition.

• Do not overload all the dryers at any one time. 

• Ensures steam is supplied constantly to all dryers.

• Blows clean garments on foam finisher when necessary for steam press garments.

• Ensure garments with special instructions are adhered to.

• Fold small items e.g. handkerchief after pressing.

• Maintain extra care for delicate buttons when pressing.

• Collects pagers and floor master keys from Team Leader before starting work and return after each shift.

• Proceeds to room that have requested for urgent service first e.g. UE, 3hrs, pressing.

• Ensures all urgent service parcels are rag with a red tag marked “URGENT”.

• Uses standard salutation in the presence of guests.

• Valets to inform sorters by phone if canvas bags are thrown down from the chute area.

Job Requirements

• Diploma/Certification in hospitality or housekeeping/laundry operations

• Proven work experience in hotel laundry services or similar role 

• Familiarity with cleaning detergents and laundering equipment
