In Ethiopia, MAXAM is involved in the Kurmuk Project, which aims to improve the mining sector's safety, sustainability, and operational efficiency

Ensure safe, efficient delivery of bulk explosives at the Kurmuk Gold Project while prioritizing safety, quality, and optimization. Key responsibilities include:

HSEQS Generic Accountabilities and Authorities:

As a MAXAM employee, you are accountable for the following:

  • Comply with Maxam and Allied Gold HSEQ policies.

  • Identifying, understanding, and addressing HSEQS hazards and risks.

  • Demonstrating behavior that is consistent with the MAXAM HSEQS Vision and Values and work within prescribed boundaries, including required behaviors, company policies, standards, procedures, and legislation requirements.

  • Collaborating with others in pursuing HSEQS goals.

  • Seeking opportunities for learning to improve HSEQS performance.

  • Conduct/participate in regular safety and quality audits.

  • Conduct the production operations correctly and safely according to Quality Control Plan and the Occupational Health and Safety standard.

  • Ensure that all relevant forms are completed as required by the procedures and instructions as laid down in the Quality System.

  • Identify opportunities for MAXAM to improve client service, efficiency, or productivity.

Specific Accountabilities and Authorities:

  • As the responsible of your Team safety, enforce your team all applicable Maxam and Allied Gold HSEQ policies.

  • Establish and maintain a safe and productive work area for the employees.

  • Taking an active role as a safety committee member.

  • Observance and enforce MAXAM objectives and policies.

  • Ensure MMU calibration and maintenance is done according to schedule.

  • Plan and organize resources according to the daily plan to ensure blast is done on time and with all the information from the customer

  • Supervising and ensuring at the bench the manufacturing and delivery of bulk products to the borehole is done according to the blast plan (product type, quantities per hole, density, etc..) and SOP´s.

  • Apply remedial actions in case of under and overloaded holes in collaboration with Customer blast crew.

  • Ensure MMU’s Raw Material consumption follows product specifications and SOP´s.

  • Report any unsafe conditions, breakdowns, or environmental issues immediately to Maintenance and Management respectively.

  • Collaborate with the customer to improve blasting practices.

  • Ensure that all relevant forms and reports are completed as required by the procedures and instructions.

  • Ensure a responsible hand-over to the oncoming shift at the end of each shift.

  • Assist in any trials or investigations.

  • Field testing of new products.

  • Preparation of production and QA/QC reports.

  • Other tasks instructed from Technical Superintendent within reasonable limits.

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • Education: Mining knowledge (technical capacity for specialized problem-solving).

  • Experience: 2+ years as a supervisor in mining/quarrying.

  • Licenses: Valid Driver’s License.

  • Skills:

    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    • Fluent in English and local language; additional languages valued.

  • Competencies: Safety leadership, client collaboration, adaptability under pressure.
