Job Description
The Pharmacy Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the management, utilization, and accountability of medical supplies across multiple refugee camps. The role ensures the effective planning, distribution, and monitoring of both in-kind donated and procured medical supplies in compliance with donor regulations, national policies, and international pharmaceutical standards. The Pharmacy Supervisor will work closely with health facility staff, supply chain personnel, and program management to ensure efficient and transparent pharmaceutical management that meets the healthcare needs of refugee populations.
Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Management:
Ensure the proper receipt, storage, and distribution of medical supplies in accordance with good pharmaceutical practices and donor requirements.
Oversee inventory management, including stock level monitoring, expiration tracking, and mitigation of stockouts and overstocking.
Implement and enforce protocols for rational drug use to optimize treatment outcomes and prevent misuse or wastage of medicines.
Conduct regular facility visits to assess stock management practices and provide technical support to pharmacy staff.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for pharmaceutical management across health facilities.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with national regulatory frameworks, donor guidelines, and international standards (e.g., WHO Good Distribution Practices)
Maintain accurate records of medical supplies received, distributed, and consumed.
Prepare and submit timely reports on stock status, utilization, and discrepancies to program management and donors.
Ensure periodic reports are prepared, verified, and submitted to relevant sections and the donor in accordance with reporting requirements.
Participate in audits, ensuring transparency and accountability in pharmaceutical management.
Capacity Building and Supervision:
Train and mentor pharmacy personnel and health facility staff on pharmaceutical management best practices, including dispensing, inventory control, and rational drug use.
Provide technical guidance to health facility staff on adherence to treatment protocols and medication safety.
Strengthen coordination with partner organizations, government health agencies, and other stakeholders to improve pharmaceutical services in refugee camps.
Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement:
Liaise with procurement teams to ensure timely ordering and delivery of medical supplies based on facility needs and consumption trends.
Collaborate with clinical teams to align supply availability with treatment protocols and program objectives.
Represent the organization in relevant health and pharmaceutical coordination meetings with donors, government agencies, and partner organizations.
Other Duties:
Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor to support the overall effectiveness of the program.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or a related field; a Master’s degree in Public Health, Supply Chain Management, or a relevant discipline is an advantage.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical management, with at least 2 years in humanitarian or emergency health programs.
Experience in managing medical supply chains, including handling in-kind donations and procured supplies.
Strong knowledge of national pharmaceutical policies, WHO guidelines, and donor regulations.
Experience working in UNHCR-funded programs is preferred.
Excellent analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in using inventory management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work in a challenging and remote environment with minimal supervision.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with experience in capacity building and team management.
