Job Description
The Engineering Technical Director is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of building construction projects, Contract development and negotiation, tender participation, planning and monitoring, technical audit, ensuring compliance with design standards, regulations, and industry best practices. The role involves leading technical teams, managing engineering designs, improving construction methodologies, and ensuring project execution aligns with quality, safety, and cost-efficiency standards.
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives.
Provide technical direction for all construction projects, Project Management & Design Oversight,
Review contracts and negotiate it accordingly
Ensure the proper resource utilization through deploying proper planning and monitoring system
Review and approve project designs, specifications, and engineering calculations.
Ensure adherence to local and international construction standards.
Optimize construction methods for efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Technical Supervision & Compliance:
Oversee quality control and safety protocols.
Ensure all projects comply with Ethiopian construction codes and environmental regulations.
Conduct technical risk assessments and mitigate potential issues.
Team Development & Coordination:
Lead, mentor, and support engineers, architects, and technical staff.
Foster collaboration between engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
Introduce new technologies and best practices in construction engineering.
Drive research and development to enhance project performance.
Reports to: Construction and Engineering Managing Director
Qualifications & Experience
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 14 years of experience in engineering and construction, with at least 6 years in senior leadership role.
Proven experience in large-scale building construction projects.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Primavera, MS Project).
Strong knowledge of Ethiopian construction laws, codes, and regulations.
