The position holder shall be responsible to provide emergency nursing care during cholera outbreaks, ensuring effective case management and infection prevention. The role includes direct patient care, support for outbreak response efforts, and training for local healthcare staff.

Clinical Care:
Provide immediate and appropriate nursing care to cholera patients in the CTC/CTU, including rehydration therapy (oral and IV fluids).
Monitor patient conditions and report changes to medical doctors for intervention.
Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) measures to prevent the spread of cholera in the CTC /CTU centers.
Maintain proper documentation of patient care, including fluid balance charts and treatment records.
Educate patients and their families on hygiene practices to reduce transmission risks.

Conduct household assessment in collaboration woreda government and health extension workers.
Support and work government health workers, and field staff in the treatment of Cholera cases, support and provide technical support at health facility and Cholera Treatment Centre (CTC).
Establish and maintain a cholera case reporting and tracking system providing weekly updates on new cases in IMC program areas. Ensure IMC has a mapping across project areas of locations with high/medium/low risk of cholera and target prioritize cholera prevention activities accordingly.
Ensure strong communication and coordination with and between all project partners as a means to effectively achieve program objectives.
Ensure that field staff are fully engaged in all aspects of the cholera response and provide refresher training as necessary to ensure that the program is able to rapidly adapt to new locations and approaches as necessary – particular emphasis on hygiene promotion communication and on technical requirements for chlorination are clear and respected.
Prepare daily and monthly implementation plans and share with all supervisor

Nursing degree from a recognized institution with valid registration/practicing license.
Minimum of 2-5 years of clinical experience, with at least 1 year in emergency or outbreak response settings.
Experience in managing infectious diseases, particularly cholera, is highly desirable. Good written and spoken ability of the local language
Extremely flexible, able to work independently, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations.
Interest in and ability to work in team.
Strong clinical and patient care skills.
Knowledge of WHO cholera management protocols.
Ability to work in high-stress and resource-limited environments.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to collect and report data accurately.
Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability and willingness to work in remote and potentially insecure environments
