Médecins du Monde (MdM) or Doctors of the World is an international humanitarian organization that provides medical care and support to vulnerable populations around the world. Founded in 1980, the organization's mission is to ensure access to healthcare for all, regardless of race, religion, or political affiliation. MdM operates in over 40 countries including Ethiopia, delivering medical aid in crisis zones, conflict-affected areas, and areas of extreme poverty. Our teams of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and support staff, work tirelessly to provide essential medical services, emergency relief, and long-term healthcare programs.MDM–France invites qualified candidates to apply for the following position :
Under the supervision of the General Coordinator, you are responsible for the development and implementation of the security pack and monitoring and control of the safety and security of people and assets. You will improve contextual analysis, build a network, support operational management, and strengthen the security capacities of the mission to advise and support the General Coordinator.
Activity Description
Context analysis
Carry out a thorough analysis of the security situation in the current and potential areas of intervention
Develop and update the risk analysis for all activity locations
Regularly follow and consolidate the security events database
Develop/revise tools and participate in security assessment of base offices, project areas, etc.
Security management
Follow with logistics department all protection measures to be implemented
Participate in the review of security procedures
Ensure that the elements of the contingency plan are regularly revised
Support the General Coordinator and logistics department in developing an access strategy
Support the logistics department in monitoring movements
Provide the General Coordinator with valuable information on what indicators will trigger staff movements
Constantly liaise and make sure the updated list of relocatable staff is shared to relevant authorities.
Participate in the management of security incidents
Immediately inform the General Coordinator of any incident
Centralize mission incident reports
Support the relocation and evacuation process
Team management and capacity building
Ensure full safety and security briefing and debriefing with the newcomers and with each team member moving to field locations
Identify training needs and build capacity for security management
Organizing training and induction sessions
Participate in the recruitment of new team members
Manage and support team members
Carry out individual action plan and performance review
Reporting and representation
Participate in the weekly MdM mission coordination meeting
Participate in humanitarian security meetings
Liaise with security peers of other INGOs and UN agencies
Ensure and coordinate the writing of a weekly security analysis report
Ensure smooth communication with key coordination members
Update security information management system regularly.
Mapping
Create detailed maps of the intervention areas
Map the different actors, stakeholders and groups using software tools
Telecommunication means
Work with the logistics department on defining the needs, installation and maintenance of telecommunication equipment
Ensure that all the telecommunication means related to security management are running and properly used
Define the communication plan for each field office location
Ensure training on satellite phones, GPS trackers and mobile applications
Employment Term: 9 months contract

Professional Experience
Similar experience or a minimum of 3 years of experience working with international NGOs in high-risk humanitarian contexts
Specific trainings in security management are an asset
Knowledge/experience of Mastery of Office 365, SharePoint/cloud systems
Use of tracking and mapping mobile applications
Experience in VHF radio system setup and training of users
Knowledge of data protection methods
Mapping softwares: ArcGIS QGIS or any other mapping tool
Experience of working in African context especially in Ethiopian would be an asset
