Kurmuk Gold Mine PLC (KGM), a subsidiary of Allied Gold Corp., a publicly listed company on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), is engaged in gold mining operations across multiple countries, including Ethiopia, Mali, and Côte d'Ivoire. KGM operates with a Large-Scale Gold Mining License and holds three contiguous Exploration Licenses for its project in Ethiopia.

The project is strategically located in western Ethiopia, approximately 750 km from Addis Ababa and about 90 km northwest of Assosa, within the Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State. KGM is currently actively involved in both 

Purpose of the job

KGM is seeking to employ a dedicated, experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Fitter to provide a specialized engineering technical service to the Dewatering Foreman by maintaining, repairing, and installing machinery and equipment such as pipes, construction manufacturing, and expert welding which are crucial for supporting operations on the mine.

Key Responsibilities:

Without being exhaustive, the responsibilities include:

Maintenance and Repair:

• Upkeep and repair of various machinery and equipment used in mining operations, including surface machinery. 

Installation:

• Participate in the installation of new equipment and machinery. 

Troubleshooting:

• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, ensuring equipment is functioning correctly and efficiently. 

Specialized Skills:

• Maintaining and repairing heavy earthmoving equipment. 

Safety:

• Adhering to strict health and safety protocols and mining regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• Minimum of Grade 12th

• N2 Engineering studies certificate

• Fitter Trade Certificate 

• Valid international drivers licence

• Willing to work shifts and do standby duties

Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience on a mine in mechanical maintenance, with working on a remote site being and advantage

• Strong mechanical skills, including the ability to diagnose and repair faults, and knowledge of various tools and equipment

• Strong problem solving skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues
