Kurmuk Gold Mine PLC (KGM), a subsidiary of Allied Gold Corp., a publicly listed company on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), is engaged in gold mining operations across multiple countries, including Ethiopia, Mali, and Côte d'Ivoire. KGM operates with a Large-Scale Gold Mining License and holds three contiguous Exploration Licenses for its project in Ethiopia.

The project is strategically located in western Ethiopia, approximately 750 km from Addis Ababa and about 90 km northwest of Assosa, within the Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State. KGM is currently actively involved in both mine development and exploration activities at the site.

Purpose of the job

KGM is seeking to employ a dedicated, experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Electrician (MV/HV) to provide a specialized engineering technical service to the Electrical Foreman by maintaining all medium and high voltage electrical components on all equipment at the mine.

Key Responsibilities:

Without being exhaustive, the responsibilities include:

• Attend and conduct safety meetings

• Conduct and participate in risk assessments

• Conduct MV and HV switching

• Maintain MV and HV electrical equipment

• Attend to breakdowns and emergencies as required

• Ensure that material, spares and equipment are available as required

• Comply to all safety and environmental requirements

• Exercise judgment with regards to replacement of components

• Maintain a high quality of work

• Record results of all legal examinations in the appropriate format

• Work in a sequence that prioritises work requirements

• Complete job cards and description of work and spares used 

• Perform all work to the required standards and specifications

• Apply appropriate tools to complete tasks

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• Minimum of Grade 12th

• N2 Engineering studies certificate

• Electrician Trade Certificate

• Minimum of Medium Voltage Switching Certification

• Valid international drivers license

• Willing to work shifts and do standby duties

Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience on a mine post trade qualification with working on a remote site being and advantage

• Proven experience in surface MV and HV electrical reticulation
