Job Description
The Customs Clearance Assessment Officer and Logistics Facilitator is responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient customs clearance and logistics operations. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Ethiopian Customs Commission software, shipping line systems, tariff classification, and transport management.
Handle customs clearance processes and ensure compliance with Ethiopian Customs Commission regulations.
Assess and classify goods using the Customs Commission VDD and tariff classification systems.
Process price valuation and verify compliance with local and international customs laws.
Manage shipping line documentation and coordinate with port authorities.
Ensure the timely release of goods and monitor customs duty payments.
Facilitate the movement of cargo from ports to designated destinations.
Use Excel and logistics management software to track and report shipments.
Oversee transport operations, including fleet coordination and scheduling.
Maintain strong relationships with Ethiopian Customs authorities and logistics service providers.
Support office administration and operational management to ensure smooth workflow.
Experience: 2-4 years in customs clearance, logistics, or freight forwarding.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Ethiopian Customs Commission software, Excel, shipping line systems, tariff classification, and VDD processing.
Operational Expertise: Knowledge of price valuation, transport & logistics coordination, and office administration.
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with customs duty structures, import/export regulations, and compliance procedures.
Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with customs officials and stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Ability to handle unexpected customs or logistics challenges efficiently.
Time Management: Capability to prioritize multiple shipments and deadlines effectively.
