LWF World Service Ethiopia is a registered foreign charity, which has been operating in Ethiopia since 1973 implementing various development and humanitarian projects in different parts of Ethiopia. LWF World Service Ethiopia works closely with the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY), the Ethiopian Government, UN organizations and other funding partners. Its thematic areas include the promotion of food security and sustainable livelihood, sustainable natural resources management, emergency preparedness, response and rehabilitation, and capacity building.

The Team Leader is responsible for supporting, coordinating, and supervising project implementation, with specific focus in ensuring effective support functions including logistics, HR, administration, finance and overall woreda level coordination. He/she is responsible to and report directly to the Regional Coordinator at the Regional Coordination Office in Ginnir.
A. Leadership
Provides leadership and coordination of project activities at the woreda level in coordination with the Regional Coordinator (RC) based in Ginnir.
Responsible for the overall management of financial, administration, personnel, supervision and implementation of the project in accordance with the relevant project agreements and policies of LWF Ethiopia.
Promote and facilitate the establishment of networks relevant to the LWF activities in the woreda;
Represents LWF Ethiopia in different coordination forums at woreda and zonal levels.
B. Program management
Provide technical support and guidance in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Gololcha Climate Resilient Livelihoods -Second Phase project in the woreda;
Design and coordinate needs assessments, baseline survey, market assessment, conduct feasibility studies as necessary for the Project
Provide/facilitate technical directions, leadership and capacity building training to the right-holders on project activities to enhance their self-reliance and resilience;
Participate in proposal development and budgeting for new projects in accordance with the LWF guidelines and standards;
Select target communities and project priority groups jointly with project staff, local government representatives and communities and other relevant stakeholders;
Lead the development of procurement, activity and budget plans for the project
Lead the regular data collection process on project progress, and compile and share weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual report on the project
Analyze budget versus expenditure on monthly basis using the monthly financial reports;
Regularly document significant success and human-interest stories, best practices and photos on monthly basis
Responsible for overseeing implementation of the project activities in accordance with approved work plan time schedules and budgets;
Conduct training on relevant thematic areas and other project interventions;
Provide technical backstopping and facilitation, work closely with partners, field staff, and cluster-based stakeholders, networks, and community members to ensure achievement of objectives in timely and cost-effective manner;
Identify humanitarian and development gaps or project related constraints/concerns and suggest possible recommendations to the Regional Coordinator;
C. Human Resource
Ensure that regular meetings are conducted by the project staffs and meeting minutes are prepared and submitted to the Regional Office.
Monitor staff performance at the woreda level and provide constructive feedback in line with LWF performance appraisal process.
Identify the key skills required by all project staff to effectively fulfil their designated roles and where necessary suggest training needs.
Ensure core humanitarian standards (CHS), Code of Conduct (CoC), PSEA and safeguarding policy are adhered to in the implementation of all project activities in the woreda;
Promote accountability to affected populations using the LWF accountability framework;
Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or designate.
Qualification and Experience:
Masters or Bachelor Degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Development Studies, or related field of study from a recognized university
Minimum of 3-year relevant work experience for Master’s Degree and 5 years for Bachelor Degree in international NGOs or UN agencies implementing projects funded by major donors including UN agencies etc.
Additional requirements:
Strong communication skill in English (written and oral)
Strong analytical and coordination skills
Ability to interact with people and lead diverse team members
Strong knowledge and experience working in food security, climate resilience and livelihoods interventions in a development setting
Good skills in reporting and monitoring
Experience in project management
Knowledge of local language Oromifa is essential
