Job Description

Effective MHPSS programming provides critical services and support across the life course to reduce suffering and improve people’s mental health and psychosocial well-being. This can lead to improvements in people’s abilities to meet their basic needs to survive, recover, and rebuild their lives.

 Salary is based on work experience and educational level.

The expert will coordinate the Regional-level MHPSS response activities for public health emergencies including support for Sub-regional MHPSS Technical Working Group (Sub-TWG).

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and cascade regional-level MHPSS emergency response plans 

  • Ensuring MHPSS integration into various programs and projects.

  • Coordinate/support MHPSS activities with relevant government authorities and international and national organizations, including standardized reporting practices related to MHPSS in emergency settings.

  • Mentoring and supporting MHPSS Staff & services within the region

  • Collect and share regional MHPSS reports from the lower level and submit to the national /EPHI/ with keeping the quality of data

  • Coordinate/ strengthen the regional MHPSS TWGs 

  • Communicate with Regional Health bureaus and establish local referral pathways for IDPs and returnees.

  • Support resource mobilization activities for MHPSS (advocacy, awareness)

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of MHPSS interventions.

Job Requirements

Expected Background and Experience

  1. Minimum of MA in Psychology, MSC in Psychiatry, MA in Social Work

  2. Minimum of 8- 10 years of experience; preferably those experiences should be on MHPSS activities in emergency/humanitarian settings 

  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the national language/s

  4. Computer literate (Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications)

  5. Good in data management, visualization

  6. Capable of working effectively in stressful and hardship conditions, especially during emergency conditions

  7. Flexible to obey the achievement of our institute mission and willing to work extra hours according to the need for urgent and timely delivery.

  8. Willing to be deployed and work effectively in hardship and stressful emergency conditions

  9. Only Ethiopian citizens are allowed to apply
