Job Description
To build a reliable accounting and reporting system that enhances the financial decision-making process by ensuring timely preparations of financial reports and conducting a close follow-up on the Company’s compliance with all financial and regulatory obligations.
Oversee effective implementation of the Company’s financial policies and procedures and ensure relevant government regulations are observed by all concerned parties.
Update the Company’s chart of account whenever needed and facilitate opening of general and subsidiary ledger accounts.
Monitor the compliance of all the approval processes and procedures of the Company’s payment obligations with the Company’s policies and procedures.
Review transactions to ensure they are properly recorded, and books of accounts are balanced.
Check all reconciliations are properly and timely prepared.
Supervise the investigation and follow up of all outstanding items on reconciliation statements with responsible persons and various organization.
Follow up timely preparation and submission of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly interim financial statements reports.
Review financial reports produced by subordinates and monitor the timely submission of tax and statuary reports to regulatory bodies.
Develop external relationships with appropriate contacts, e.g. auditors, bankers and statutory and regulatory bodies.
Facilitate external auditing and follow up the timely completion of the Annual Audit Reports.
Manage monthly closing of financial records and posting of month end information and ensure accuracy of financial statements.
Generic Duties of the Position:
Develop and implement the Department’s plans and objectives.
Develop, approve and monitor the Department’s budgets.
Identify human resources requirements of the Department and develop plan for meeting the requirements.
Develop, implement and review relevant departmental policies and procedures.
Review, approve and submit departmental reports to relevant organs.
Support the development of subordinates through periodic performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring, ongoing performance dialogue and feedback.
Manage disciplinary concerns of the department’s staff.
Represent the Department in internal and external relationships.
Participate in group decision making process by forming part of different groups/committees.
Qualification and Experience:
Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, qualified ACCA with 6 years of demonstrated experience out of which three (4) years in a supervisory position
Or
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with eight (8) years of demonstrated experience of which four (5) years in a supervisory position.
