Job Description

The Supply Chain Controller at East African National Distribution Share Company (EAND S.C.), a subsidiary of East African Holding SC, is responsible for overseeing and controlling all supply chain financial, operations, and performance metrics. This role focuses on monitoring, reporting, and optimizing key aspects of procurement, logistics, inventory, and distribution, particularly in the cement and construction materials sectors, to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance. The Supply Chain Controller works closely with the Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) by providing data-driven insights, risk assessments, and financial reports to support strategic decision-making.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supply Chain Monitoring and Control:

  • Track and analyze supply chain KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.

  • Develop and maintain performance dashboards for procurement, logistics, and inventory management.

  • Conduct regular audits of supply chain processes to ensure adherence to company policies and industry best practices.

  • Provide real-time visibility of supply chain operations to the Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO).

2. Reporting and Data Analysis:

  • Prepare detailed reports on supply chain costs, efficiency, and risk assessment for the CSCO.

  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on supplier performance, logistics efficiency, and inventory turnover.

  • Ensure data accuracy in ERP and supply chain management systems, analyzing trends for strategic planning.

  • Support the CSCO in presenting supply chain performance reports to senior management and stakeholders.

3. Financial Oversight & Cost Control:

  • Monitor supply chain expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

  • Ensure budget compliance across all supply chain functions (procurement, logistics, distribution, inventory management).

  • Evaluate supplier contracts and logistics agreements to maintain financial efficiency and reduce unnecessary costs.

  • Implement cost-tracking mechanisms to enhance transparency in supply chain spending.

4. Procurement & Supplier Performance Evaluation:

  • Control procurement compliance, ensuring all purchases align with company policies and cost controls.

  • Conduct risk assessments on supplier reliability, contract terms, and market trends.

  • Report supplier performance to the CSCO, highlighting areas for renegotiation or improvement.

  • Monitor purchase order approvals to prevent budget overruns and inefficiencies.

5. Inventory & Demand Planning Oversight:

  • Ensure inventory levels align with demand forecasts to prevent overstocking or shortages.

  • Implement inventory audit mechanisms to minimize loss, theft, and discrepancies.

  • Work with warehouse and distribution teams to optimize stock rotation and order fulfillment processes.

  • Provide the CSCO with data on stock movement trends and warehouse efficiency.

6. Logistics & Distribution Control:

  • Oversee transportation costs, route efficiency, and fleet utilization.

  • Ensure logistics providers meet contractual service levels, reporting any deviations to the CSCO.

  • Monitor order fulfillment accuracy, ensuring timely and complete deliveries.

  • Control compliance with safety, environmental, and legal transport regulations.

7. Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Identify potential supply chain disruptions and propose contingency plans to the CSCO.

  • Monitor adherence to compliance standards, including procurement policies, customs regulations, and labor laws.

  • Ensure all supply chain activities align with corporate governance and financial reporting requirements.

8. Digital Transformation & Process Improvement:

  • Implement and monitor ERP systems and digital tools to improve supply chain visibility.

  • Work with IT and finance teams to integrate advanced analytics and forecasting.

  • Recommend process automation strategies to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Job Requirements

PERSONS SPECIFICATIONS 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.

  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, or Supply Chain is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain control, financial monitoring, or operations analysis.

  • Strong background in supply chain finance, cost control, and performance reporting.

  • Experience in inventory auditing, procurement compliance, and logistics cost analysis.

  • Previous exposure to cement, construction materials, or FMCG industries is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Competence:

  • Strong financial acumen with expertise in cost control and budgeting.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems.

  • Advanced skills in data analysis, forecasting, and business intelligence tools.

  • Knowledge of procurement, inventory management, and logistics best practices.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, data-driven environment, ensuring timely reporting and analysis.

  • Ability to develop and execute a strategic vision for the supply chain function, aligning it with the company’s broader business goals.

  • Financial insight with experience in budgeting, cost management, and financial analysis.

  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing business environment and make decisions under pressure.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and sustainability.
