The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of buildings, facilities, and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong set of skills in various maintenance areas and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Routine Maintenance:

   • Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance on buildings and facilities.

   • Conduct minor repairs on plumbing systems, electrical fixtures, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

2. General Repairs:

   • Fix or replace broken fixtures, furniture, and appliances.

   • Handle drywall repair, painting, and minor carpentry tasks as required.

3. Cleaning and Upkeep:

   • Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas and facilities.

   • Assist in waste management and recycling efforts.

4. Safety Compliance:

   • Ensure that all maintenance activities adhere to safety protocols and regulations.

   • Report hazards and unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately.

5. Support Special Projects:

   • Assist in setup and takedown for events and meetings, including furniture arrangement and equipment setup.

   • Collaborate with other maintenance team members on larger scale repair or renovation projects.

6. Inventory Management:

   • Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and materials, reporting shortages to the supervisor.

   • Request and track the purchasing of new tools and equipment as necessary.

7. Customer Service:

   • Respond respectfully and promptly to maintenance requests from staff and occupants.

   • Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure tasks are accomplished efficiently.

8. Documentation:

   • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and reports of tasks completed.

   • Update repair logs and work orders as required.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training in maintenance trades is a plus.

• Proven experience in general maintenance or a related field.

• Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical systems, and general repair techniques.

• Familiarity with tools and equipment used in maintenance tasks.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Excellent time management and organizational skills.

• Basic computer skills for inventory management and reporting purposes.

  Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks for extended periods.

• Comfort working in different environments, including outdoor settings.

• Ability to respond to emergency situations as needed.
