Job Title: Senior Finance Manager

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Location: CBE Capital Investment Bank, Ethiopia

Job Type: Full-time

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing financial operations at our investment bank. This role is critical in ensuring financial integrity, optimizing investment strategies, and driving profitability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management within the capital markets and a deep understanding of Ethiopian financial regulations

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting

a. Lead and manage the firm’s financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, vendor management and tax planning/reporting

b. Oversee regulatory compliance with financial laws and reporting requirements in Ethiopia.

c. Proactively identify, analyze, assess and mitigate financial risks

d. Prepare and present financial statements to multiple stakeholders, including senior management and regulatory agencies.

e. Monitor and optimize cash flow management and liquidity strategies.

f. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and audits

g. Work closely with traders, investment analysts, and senior executives to guide financial decision-making.

h. Liaise with stakeholders, regulators, and external auditors to ensure best practices

i. Improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness within the finance department.

2. Brokerage services and investment banking

a. Manage and reconcile the firm’s client bank account by coordinating with clearing and settlement services providers

b. Work as needed with brokerage services and investment banking teams

c. Report profit and loss statements to various departments on a regular basis

3. Risk management and Compliance

a. Adhere to Ethiopian financial regulations and the guidelines set by the Capital Market Proclamation- No. 1248-2021, Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) and Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX).

b. Adhere to risk management controls to minimize errors and ensure ethical practices.

c. Maintain accurate records.

4. Team Leadership and Mentorship

a. Contribute to the continuous development of trading systems, policies, and operational procedures.

b. Foster a culture of discipline, integrity, accountability, and performance within the firm.

Job Requirement

Qualifications & Experience

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration

· Minimum 7+ years of experience in financial management, preferably in a brokerage or investment firm

· IFRS certification is highly desirable

· Adequate knowledge and understanding of the Ethiopian financial market, investment products, trading, and investment principles

· Strong knowledge of Ethiopian accounting and financial reporting regulations, tax laws, and other relevant regulatory requirements.

· Expertise in financial modeling, risk management, and investment analysis

· Leadership and managerial experience in guiding financial teams and advising executives.

· Proficiency Excel and financial reporting tools such as SAP, Oracle, or similar software.

· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent communication and writing abilities.

· High motivation, resilience, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
