Job Description

The position holder shall, in general, be charged with the overall responsibility of managing various construction functions of the Organization.  He shall be expected to demonstrate high professionalism in his duties. He will be expected to prove his competence in the area of management in general and construction management in particular.  

Main Duties and Tasks

1. Planning
•    The Manager shall be responsible for the overall planning of the construction function of the Organization. He shall ensure that periodical plans are developed at the Department and Project levels, that the plans are executed effectively and efficiently.   
•    Ensure that the various work units and projects are guided by plans developed.
•    Coordinate the preparation of projects monthly requisition of cash budget and material requirements.

2. Coordinating
•    The Manager shall properly coordinate the various construction functions of the Organization and provide direction to the staff under his supervision.
•    Develop and review methods for coordinating work units.

•    Ensure that the necessary resources - human, material, finance, and machinery is available for projects in a coordinated manner.
•    Provide direction to staff under him.
3. Supervision
•    The Department Head shall ensure that plans of action are implemented, works are done in time and execute their duties and responsibilities as required,
•    The Manager shall be responsible for making sure that relationships are managed appropriately with clients, sub-contractors, among the department and other department staff, and project to ensure the promotion and maintenance of good image of the Organization, achievement of mission and healthy working environment.
•    Appraise the performance of staff under his direct supervision.
•    Improves the capacity and capability of permanent employees in the department and projects through on the job training.
•    Make sure that policies and procedures are implemented.
•    Promote quality and cost-consciousness among the department staff and throughout projects.
•    Present weekly project progress at Management meetings.

4. Manage Technical activities
•    Under the general direction of the Engineering function direct, co-ordinate, and implement the plans and programs of the project. Is responsible and accountable for the execution of the works according to the required quality, cost and time.
•    Based on the approved master plan and program of the project, prepares detail construction work, material, labor and equipment schedules and implements. Appraises periodically the progress and effectiveness of the project operating and takes remedial actions, and where appropriate recommends improvement, direct, organizes, coordinates, supervises and administers the project activities in accordance with the established rules, regulations and procedures of the firm.
•    Analyze actual costs incurred for each job in comparison with budget and bid offer and take measures to improve margin.
•    Ensure the preparation of change order when applicable and obtains approval from client or consultant, investigate and ensures data that will justify all force measures, claims (cost & time), and method of construction and shop drawings communicates and the same and appropriate action were taken by consultants.
•    Ensures material production and prefabrication on project site meets the required quantity, quality and standards.

Job Requirements

Qualification: 

  • BSC Degree and above in Construction Management, Engineering Or Related Field and a minimum of 8 years or above Relevant experience In Construction Management.
