Job Description

The Research and Advisory Lead will play a pivotal role in shaping strategic decisions and providing data-driven insights to enhance Shega Media and Technology’s competitive position in the industry. This includes overseeing and leading research initiatives, developing strategies based on thorough analysis, and offering expert advisory services to both internal teams and external stakeholders. The role involves managing research projects, analyzing market trends, and delivering actionable recommendations to help clients navigate and stay ahead in the dynamic media and technology sectors, ensuring alignment with the company’s objectives and client needs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Research Leadership and Project Management

  • Lead and oversee research projects focused on trends, opportunities, and challenges within the media and technology sectors. Ensure high-quality, accurate, and actionable insights are delivered.

  • Manage multiple research initiatives simultaneously, ensuring timely completion within scope, adhering to quality standards, and meeting project objectives.

  • Utilize both quantitative and qualitative research methods (surveys, interviews, focus groups, data analysis) to gather relevant insights that inform strategic decisions.

Strategic Guidance and Client Advisory

  • Provide strategic recommendations to clients based on research findings, helping them optimize operations, enhance innovation, and meet business goals.

  • Develop customized research and advisory services tailored to the unique needs of individual clients, offering targeted and actionable solutions.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all research-related inquiries from clients, maintaining strong, ongoing relationships to ensure continued value and service delivery.

Market Analysis and Trend Identification

  • Conduct thorough market analysis to identify emerging trends, technologies, and competitor activities within the media and technology sectors.

  • Analyze industry trends, competitive landscapes, and consumer behavior to generate insights that inform business strategies for clients.

  • Provide forward-looking strategic advice to help clients stay ahead of industry developments and gain a competitive advantage.

Collaboration and Cross-Functional Integration

  • Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, development, product management) to ensure research findings are effectively integrated into business strategies and initiatives.

  • Foster collaboration between departments to drive the successful execution of research and advisory projects.

Reporting and Presentation

  • Develop and deliver high-impact reports, presentations, and briefings that communicate complex research findings in a clear, concise, and actionable manner.

  • Create presentations, reports, and white papers that highlight key research insights and strategic recommendations for clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a team of researchers and analysts, providing guidance and support to foster professional development.

  • Offer training, career development, and performance feedback to team members, ensuring the research team is continually growing in knowledge and expertise.

  • Stay current with the latest trends, research tools, and methodologies in the media and technology sectors.

  • Actively contribute to Shega Media’s thought leadership by producing blog posts, white papers, and participating in public speaking engagements at industry events.

Innovation and Growth Opportunities

  • Identify opportunities for growth and innovation within the media and technology sectors, keeping both the company and clients at the forefront of industry developments.

  • Drive research efforts that uncover new trends, markets, and technological advancements, guiding clients toward new opportunities for success.

Strategic Interpretation and Opportunity Identification

  • Collaborate with internal teams to interpret research findings and identify strategic opportunities based on data insights.

  • Provide actionable advice and recommendations to internal teams and clients, helping them leverage insights for future planning and decision-making.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Business Administration, Economics, Media and Technology.

  • At least 6 years of experience in research, strategy consulting, or advisory services, ideally within media, technology, or related industries out of which two (2) Years on management position or equivalent capacity.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to process and interpret complex data and trends.

  • Experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.

  • Proven ability to communicate research findings clearly and effectively to senior stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated leadership in managing research projects and teams.

  • Strong understanding of the media and technology landscape, particularly in Ethiopia and the broader East African region.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives from data.

  • Proficiency in technology platforms and tools relevant to research and advisory services.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across teams and with external stakeholders.
