Dodai Manufacturing Plc (Dodai), is a recently incorporated organization launched in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on August 01, 2023. Dodai is a fast growing organization with a mission of making urban e-mobility accessible to everyone in Africa through its innovative products and services. Dodai plans to provide brand new electric two wheelers by assembling them here in Addis Ababa and plans to expand to major regional cities in Ethiopia by the end of 2025. It’s thus looking to engage dynamic Ethiopian talent to ensure the achievement of its goals.

We are seeking a proactive and organized Battery Swapper Team Lead to oversee the efficient operation of our network of battery swapping stations across Addis Ababa. You will be responsible for ensuring optimal battery availability at each station, supervising the team of Battery Swappers, and managing the logistics of battery distribution and maintenance. This role requires strong leadership skills, logistical acumen, and a commitment to maintaining a high level of operational efficiency and service quality.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Battery Inventory Management:

  • Monitor battery levels in real-time and manage charging schedules to prevent shortages.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and coordinate retrieval and replacement of defective batteries.

Swapper Supervision and Support:

  • Supervise and support Battery Swappers, assign shifts, and ensure task completion.

  • Train new team members, provide feedback, and temporarily manage other stations when needed.

Logistics and Maintenance:

  • Coordinate battery transport between warehouse and stations, and track damaged units.

  • Ensure stations remain clean, organized, and request maintenance when required.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Monitor KPIs like swap time and productivity; analyze weekly data and proactively suggest improvements with a strong sense of urgency.

  • Ensure every battery swap is completed within a maximum of 2 minutes and maintain zero safety incidents at all times.

  • Drive significant operational improvements within the first 3 months and ensure continuous optimization thereafter through consistent reporting and action.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Act as the main point of contact for your station team and coordinate with logistics, support, maintenance, and tech teams using digital tools.

  • Communicate transparently, respond with urgency, and ensure all updates, issues, and escalations are shared in a timely and clear digital format.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Enforce safety protocols and conduct regular checks of stations and equipment.

  • Report any incidents immediately and ensure follow-up actions are taken.

Other Duties

  • Perform tasks assigned by your supervisor and support overall operational needs.

  • The specific station location you are assigned to may change frequently based on operational requirements. Flexibility in station placement is expected.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in logistics, operations management, Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Minim of 3 years of experience managing similar operations

  • Proven experience in managing teams and coordinating logistical operations, preferably in a field service or transportation environment.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortable communicating in English (spoken and written)Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • High attention to safety, accountability, and service quality

  • Proficiency in using mobile applications and basic computer software.
