Job Title: Senior Political Affairs Officer,

Job Requirements:

• Education: Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in political science, international relations, international economics, law, public administration or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

• Work Experience: A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in political science, international relations, law, disarmament, security, development management, conflict resolution or related area is required. A minimum of three years of field experience in political affairs in a UN peace operation or a similar international organization is required. At least three years of experience directly supporting senior officials in their good offices or mediation efforts as part of a political or peace process is required. A minimum of five years of experience in political outreach, facilitation, analysis, advice and reporting is required. Experience managing a team in a regional or global context is required. Experience working in Africa is required. A minimum of five years of experience advising senior officials is desirable. Experience dealing with UN budgetary procedures and other administrative rules and regulations is desirable. Experience working on peace and security issues in the Horn of Africa is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

• Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
