Ethiopian Women Rights Advocate (EWRA) is a non-profit organization established on February 15, 2021, and officially registered and accorded legal personality by the Ethiopian Authority for Civil Society Organizations under register number 5398, with a vision for a community where women and girls’ rights are safeguarded. EWRA aims to advance gender equality and protect the rights of Ethiopian women and girls through evidence-informed advocacy. Our mission is to challenge legal gaps, discriminatory laws, policies, and harmful social norms and practices to ensure gender equality and empower women and girls. Its strategic interventions are through research and evidence generation, movement building, advocacy, capacity development, and awareness raising
EWRA is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Program Officer with a strong legal background and proven experience in gender issues, research, resource mobilization, and collaborative teamwork. The Senior Program Officer will play a key role in designing, implementing, and monitoring programs that promote women's rights and gender justice in Ethiopia.
Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of gender-focused programs and advocacy initiatives.
Conduct legal and policy analysis to identify gaps and recommend reforms that promote women's rights and social inclusion.
Coordinate or lead high-quality research initiatives, including evidence generation, case studies, and impact assessments.
Develop project proposals and concept notes for resource mobilization and actively engage with donors and strategic partners.
Monitor program performance, ensure timely and accurate reporting, and maintain compliance with donor requirements and expectations.
Build and maintain strong partnerships with civil society organizations, government entities, and international stakeholders.
Contribute to EWRA’s strategic planning processes and represent the organization in relevant forums, networks, and events.
Ensure the timely completion of assignments as directed by the immediate supervisor.
oversee the operational management of projects and ensure effective delivery of results in accordance with project documents, work plans, and partnership agreements, in coordination with the project manager or supervisor.
Design comprehensive project schedules and work plans, including defined milestones, deadlines, and resource estimates.
Plan, organize, and facilitate project-related events such as workshops, training sessions, stakeholder meetings, and consultations.
Lead the development and updating of annual and detailed implementation plans and related documentation to support project delivery.
Provide technical input and maintain quality assurance throughout project activities to meet intended outcomes.
Track project implementation progress and ensure activities are executed on schedule and in alignment with expected outputs.
Prepare terms of reference, support recruitment processes, and manage budget planning and expenditure tracking.
Ensure compliance with donor policies, contractual obligations, and reporting standards across all project phases.
Monitor project performance to ensure alignment with EWRA’s mission and strategic goals.
Take on additional tasks as assigned by the executive director to support the effective execution of project activities.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff and interns to build internal capacity and ensure knowledge transfer.

LLB or Master’s degree in Law, Gender Studies, Development Studies, or a related field.
At least 13 years with LLB or 7 years with Masters of relevant experience in program management, legal analysis, gender, and social inclusion.
Proven experience in resource mobilization, proposal writing, and donor engagement.
Strong research skills with experience in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
In-depth understanding of the Ethiopian legal and policy context related to women’s rights.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
Fluency in English and Amharic; additional local languages are an asset.
