Job Description

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the head, Collection and Disbursement Division, receives incoming cash, checks it against slips or other documents, prepares money for deposit at bank and arranges withdrawals; verifies cash held against records.

  Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Receives cash and/or checks from debtors, customers or other sources against cash receipts; deposits collected money in the bank and draws cash from bank.

  • Keeps, disburses and requests for the replenishment of the main petty cash when it reaches the minimum limit.

  • Effects authorized payments such as wages and salaries, perdiem, other allowances and petty cash payments.

  • Records cash received and deposited on daily cash collection and deposit reports.

  • Maintains cash books to ensure that book balance is reconciled with cash in the safe box and submits daily cash balance report.

  • Ensures that suspense payments are cleared within seven days.

  • Disburses fund for purchase, ensures return of unused cash; keeps necessary records of transactions of receipt and expenditure.

  • Cross-refer bank deposit slips, or check deposits to the cash receipts/cash sales invoices to which they relate.

  • Performs other function as required.
