The HR Business Partner (HRBP) for the Technology Department acts as a strategic advisor and partner to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and technology leadership team. This role aligns HR initiatives with the fast-paced and evolving needs of a high-performing tech organization, focusing on workforce planning, talent development, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement to drive innovation and business success.
1. Strategic Partnership
Serve as a trusted advisor to the CTO and Tech leadership team on HR matters, workforce strategy, and organizational design.
Understand the technology team’s business goals and ensure HR strategy supports them.
Contribute to change management and transformation initiatives within the Tech department.
2. Workforce Planning & Talent Management
Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to plan and fill technical roles in software engineering, DevOps, data science, cybersecurity, etc.
Support onboarding and integration of new tech hires, ensuring alignment with department expectations.
Partner with leaders to develop succession and career development plans for key technical roles.
3. Performance & Capability Development
Guide the implementation of performance management processes across tech teams, ensuring timely and meaningful feedback cycles.
Identify skill gaps and work with L&D on targeted training programs for technical capabilities, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.
4. Organizational Development
Support organizational restructuring and team design efforts to ensure agility and scalability of the tech function.
Facilitate role clarity, growth paths, and competency frameworks specific to engineering, product, and IT roles.
5. Employee Experience & Engagement
Monitor and enhance employee engagement within the tech department through surveys, focus groups, and feedback loops.
Advise managers on complex employee relations matters and foster a healthy work environment for technical teams.
6. HR Operations & Compliance
Ensure compliance with labor laws, internal HR policies, and employment contracts.
Maintain accurate employee records for the tech department in the ERP/HRIS system.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field (master's preferred).
5+ years of progressive HR experience, including 2+ years in a business partner or strategic HR role.
Experience supporting technology, software, or engineering teams is strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of technical role structures, hiring challenges, and performance metrics.
Competencies & Skills:
Strong business acumen and understanding of how tech organizations operate.
Strategic thinking with the ability to execute operationally.
Excellent communication, influencing, and conflict-resolution skills.
Agile mindset with ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Data-driven approach to HR decisions and recommendations
