Market Solutions Practice (MSP)
MSP corrects market failures by deploying Kifiya’s four core infrastructures—intelligent data & decisioning, intelligent financial services, digital agriculture, and smart mobility—to enable MSMEs, smallholder farmers, and low-to-middle-income individuals to access finance and markets. Program Overview: SAFEE Shared Facility
Under the Sustainable Access to Finance to Enable Entrepreneurship (SAFEE) program (a Kifiya–Mastercard Foundation partnership), the Shared Facility provides digital infrastructure and data-management tools to our Foundation partners. By unlocking $1.2 billion in liquidity through a 1:3 leverage model and declining guarantees, SAFEE empowers 477,861 youth‑ and women‑led MSMEs across Agriculture, Manufacturing, and Digital Entrepreneurship.
Position Summary:
You will be based in one of the 8 regional offices of Kifiya in the field in Ethiopia with the responsibility to support the MERL unit of MSP at the HQ in designing, implementing, maintaining its MERL system. The role will also focus on linking the borrowers with local branches of the banks for their access to finance. You will not be focusing on any particular program under MSP of Kifiya but support all the programs which have led the design, coordination, and execution of MERL initiatives of Shared facilities for our Foundation partners and beyond. You will work very closely with the regional teams based in the field coordinate with Impact communication team at the HQ to collect and validate impact/success stories from the field.
Data Collection and Verification: Collect, compile, and verify quantitative and qualitative data from field activities to support Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting, Learning (MERL), Impact Communication, and alternative credit scoring (IDD/KYC/KYB).
Data Analysis and Learning: Analyze field data to identify trends, gaps, and insights; contribute to program adaptation by identifying lessons learned and supporting learning agenda implementation.
Monitoring and Evaluation Support: Assist in tracking project progress against work plans, outputs, and outcomes; support evaluations and field studies as required by the MERL team.
Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit regular reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual) on project performance, field insights, and borrower linkage progress; maintain up-to-date documentation of borrower-bank engagements.
Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination: Collaborate with project partners, banks, cooperatives, and local networks to ensure smooth implementation, data quality, and inclusive financial access.
Borrower Identification and Onboarding: Identify eligible borrowers in coordination with local partners, collect relevant data, and support their onboarding into digital and/or manual loan systems.
Loan Application and Credit Readiness Support: Assist borrowers in completing and submitting loan applications; provide financial literacy sessions on responsible borrowing, business planning, and repayment strategies.
Bank Linkage Facilitation: Act as the primary liaison between borrowers and partner financial institutions, scheduling meetings, sharing profiles, and building trust between parties.
Loan Follow-up and Support: Track loan processing and disbursement status; provide post-loan guidance and monitor repayment behavior to ensure sustainable financial inclusion.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as statistics, social sciences, or development studies.
3+ years of extensive experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Knowledge of M&E frameworks and methodologies.
Experience working in a field setting, particularly in development or humanitarian contexts.
Required Skills and competences:
MERL Knowledge: Understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting practices.
Data Handling: Ability to collect, validate, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
Financial Literacy: Basic knowledge of credit systems, loan processes, and borrower profiling.
Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal skills to work with borrowers, banks, and partners.
Communication: Clear written and verbal communication, with reporting and documentation skills.
Organizational Ability: Capacity to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and field activities efficiently.
Digital Proficiency: Familiarity with data collection and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, KoboToolbox).
Inclusion Awareness: Commitment to gender equality and social inclusion in community engagement.
Strong ability to integrate AI‑driven insights to accomplish MERL activities as mentioned above.
Willingness to travel to the field locations at least 40 % in a month
