The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiativeof the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations, seconded by the Ministryof Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae).AHRI is a biomedical Research institute that works in developing tools for research studies, Vaccine, prevention, control, and treatment of neglected tropical diseases and other diseases of public health importance through applied, basic biomedical research, research studies, and training.
Job Requirements
Qualification:
MSc in Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Microbiology, and Health Biotechnology
Experience:
A minimum of four years of working experience for an Associate researcher and five years of experience in communicable and non-communicable disease research.
Five (5) publication points is mandatory
Have experience in researching Cancer immunology, TB, and the One Health approach study.
Strong background and experience in research laboratory quality management, laboratory accreditation experience, advanced laboratory skill, research project coordination, program evaluation, and related areas with a good publication record.
Trained and experienced in quantitative study methods and with good publication records.
Skills and Abilities:
Laboratory Management: Manage daily laboratory operations, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety standards, mentor laboratory staff, ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy in data collection and analysis, and ensure the proper Implementation of quality standards of laboratory equipment.
Research / Quantitative Skills: Defining problems, designing experiments, utilizing laboratory equipment, using computers for computation / simulation, conducting studies, recording observations, interpreting results, utilizing statistical tests to predict outcomes, and preparing statistical reports.
Data Analysis and Reporting skills: Utilize statistical tools to analyze research data and generate actionable insights, maintain accurate records of experiments, data, and research findings in compliance with institutional policies, and prepare and submit regular progress reports to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
Analytical Skills: Examining components of problems / ideas, reasoning logically, categorizing data, making projections from data, organizing ideas / information, and evaluating the effects of phenomena.
Communication Skills: Writing research proposals, contributing to teams, summarizing research findings, explaining complex ideas for technical and nontechnical audiences, designing charts, graphs, and other visual aids, reporting results and conclusions orally and in writing, and presenting alternative explanations.
