Job Description
About the Role: The Pharmacy Wholesale Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our wholesale pharmacy operations. This includes managing inventory, ensuring regulatory compliance, leading a team, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and clients. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a thorough understanding of pharmaceutical wholesale practices, and a commitment to quality and efficiency.

Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the wholesale pharmacy, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows from procurement to distribution.
Inventory Control: Manage pharmaceutical inventory levels, including ordering, receiving, storage, and dispatch. Implement and monitor systems to prevent stockouts, minimize wastage (including managing expiry dates), and ensure proper stock rotation (e.g., FEFO - First Expired, First Out).
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations adhere to Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) and international pharmaceutical guidelines, including Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and Good Storage Practices (GSP). Maintain all necessary licenses and documentation.
Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of pharmacy staff, including warehouse personnel and sales teams. Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs to foster professional development.
Supplier and Client Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, suppliers, and key clients (pharmacies, hospitals, clinics). Negotiate procurement terms and address any product-related inquiries or issues.
Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality assurance protocols to ensure the safety, efficacy, and integrity of all pharmaceutical products handled. Oversee processes for managing product recalls and returns.
Financial Oversight: Contribute to budget planning, monitor expenditure, and work towards achieving financial targets for the wholesale operations.
Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records related to inventory, sales, procurement, and regulatory compliance. Prepare regular reports for senior management on operational performance and market trends.
Market Awareness: Stay updated on market trends, new product launches, and changes in pharmaceutical laws and regulations.
Education: Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Pharmacy or a closely related scientific field is mandatory.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in a pharmaceutical wholesale, distribution, or pharmacy management role.
Knowledge:
Strong understanding of Ethiopian pharmaceutical laws and regulations.
Comprehensive knowledge of Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and Good Storage Practices (GSP).
Familiarity with inventory management systems and pharmaceutical software.
Understanding of pharmaceutical products, including their storage requirements and handling.
Skills: o Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational, planning, and time-management abilities.
Proven problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
