Position title: Conservation Agriculture (CA) Officer

Job Summary
The CA Officer is responsible to plan, implement, capacity building, facilitating, supervise and monitoring: Scaling Conservation Agriculture-based Sustainable Intensification (SCASI) project activities, like CA+ trainings to farmers, DAs and community workers, SHGs trainings, mulch preparations, compost preparations, demonstration plots detailed work activities, technical support for individual CA farmers plots agricultural activities, farmers experience sharing visits, farmers field days, supporting school environmental clubs, compiling data on all CA activities at each kebele and reporting to the project manager periodically and carried out the assignments given by the immediate supervisor.
Key Result #1: Take a lead in Planning and reporting of the Scaling up Conservation Agriculture-Based Sustainable Intensification Project
Prepare detailed activities and budget plan of the conservation agriculture project activities, farmers, DAs & community workers capacity building training, organizing and coordinating experience sharing visits, farmers field days and demonstration plots activities, training SHGS and strengthen the established platform activities for the SCASI project.
Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, bi-annual, annual, etc… (Periodical reports) to AP manager for internal use and compile and submit to all partners.
Collect and compile early warning data from the respective woreda and prepare monthly and quarterly early warning reports
Closely work with all partners/stakeholders and prepare joint action plan for smooth implementation, maintain smooth relationship with all partners in order to ensure the benefits of the target people in the community.
Key Result #2: Project Implementation and coordination (study, participate in designing, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and funding)
Facilitate the activities at each kebele’s demonstration plot, rendering technical support at each CA farmer’s plot; formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and technical supports of school environment clubs.
Organize different conservation agriculture trainings for DAs, community workers and farmers planned by the project
Liaise the project office with line government offices, community leaders and other partners regarding conservation agriculture-based sustainable intensification project.
Contribute for smooth working relationships with staff and stakeholders.
Maintain good working relationships with staff and partners.
Supervise and give technical support to community workers at their working sites/kebeles.
Monitor the activities under his custody regularly and ensures quality output.
Generate new project ideas and facilitate the preparation of proposal in agriculture, capacity building and agricultural input supports.
Key Result #3: Networking, Coordination and Projects Management
Networks with Assosa University, Assosa ATVET, Assosa Agricultural Research Centre, Assosa Soils Laboratory, Assosa Farmers Union, Cooperatives and all government and non-governmental agencies to collaborate in running the conservation agriculture business activities with AP manager.
Organize and handle all learning and lessons events with the respective local level project stakeholders and others who come to the project area in consultation with Climate Resilience Manager.
Makes the necessary contacts with Woreda and Kebele level partners for smooth relationship and maintains good understanding in the implementation process of the project; and hosts project visitors from donors and different organizations at woreda.
Maintain good relationships with stakeholders.
Key Result #4 Staff and Resource management
Ensure that project vehicles, motorbikes and cycles are properly managed as per vehicles management guidelines of FHE.
Ensures that materials and commodities are adequately available and properly utilized.
Co-ordinates and creates team spirit among project staff to maximize the achievements of the project.
Key Result #5 Financial management
Ensures that financial resources of the project is implemented based on the planned activities.
Show a higher integrity in handling financial resources allocated for the planned project.
Ensure that resource utilization is economical and efficient in the project.
Provide all necessary technical support to project Finance and Admin Officer to prepare monthly financial accomplishment report and submit it to Head Office.

Excellent writing skills in English with proven ability to review plan/reports with donor requirements/standards.
Project management and sound experience in monitoring and evaluation is required.
Computer literate in Microsoft Programs.

Ability to work effectively under pressure.
Able to self-manage a diverse and dynamic set of responsibilities, proactively solve problems and / or suggest viable solutions while advancing goals and objectives.
Experience
Minimum of three years’ related experience and preferably in a similar program (Climate smart agriculture and other related) or INGO setting.
Education/Certifications
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Rural Development, Natural Resource management or other related fields.
Training in Conservation Agriculture principles, Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA), Climate Change, Community Facilitation skill training.
Language
Proficiency in both spoken and written English; ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, or government regulations. He/ She have the ability to write reports and understand the rural context.
