Department & Position Summary:
The Chief Product Officer (CPO) at Digaf Microfinance is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of the company’s financial products and services. As a key member of the executive team, the CPO leads the product strategy, design, innovation, and delivery across all digital and physical channels. The role ensures Digaf’s products—ranging from mobile wallets and digital lending platforms to Insurtech and Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) systems—are aligned with customer needs, market trends, and organizational goals.

The CPO collaborates closely with technology, marketing, customer experience, compliance, and business teams to co-create impactful, scalable, and inclusive financial solutions.

Objectives:

  • Lead the product vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with Digaf’s growth objectives and digital innovation goals.

  • Drive design, development, and go-to-market strategies for cutting-edge financial products, including mobile wallets, Insurtech, and AI-powered platforms.

  • Embed customer needs, data insights, and market trends into every stage of the product lifecycle.

  • Foster is a high-performing product organization committed to continuous learning, experimentation, and customer-centric design.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Strategy & Vision

  • Define and execute a comprehensive product vision and roadmap in line with Digaf’s strategic objectives

  • Drive product planning and prioritization to meet customer needs and market opportunities.

  • Maintain competitive positioning through innovation in digital lending, BNPL, Insurtech, and digital payments.

2. Product Development & Innovation

  • Lead end-to-end product lifecycle: ideation, needs assessment, design, prototyping, testing, launch, and iteration.

  • Oversee the development of key product platforms, including: Mobile money wallets and digital card issuance Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) and microcredit solutions

  • Insurtech offerings and embedded microinsurance

  • Digital learning tools for financial literacy and internal capacity building

3. Customer Experience & Design Thinking

  • Ensure frictionless, accessible, and scalable user experiences.

  • Apply agile methodologies and design thinking frameworks to prototype and deliver high-impact solutions.

  • Gather and utilize customer feedback and behavioral insights to improve products continuously.

4. Market Intelligence & Needs Assessment

  • Conduct competitive benchmarking, market trend analysis, and customer research.

  • Identify gaps and opportunities to expand the product suite and increase customer retention and acquisition.

5. Performance Management & Product ROI

  • Define and monitor product KPIs, including adoption, revenue contribution, usage frequency, and satisfaction scores.

  • Drive data-informed decision-making and continuous optimization of product performance and portfolio.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Technology (CTO), Marketing (CMO), and Operations (COO) to ensure seamless execution and alignment.

  • Coordinate with Compliance, Risk, and Legal functions to ensure all products meet internal and regulatory standards.

7. Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing product management team.

  • Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability.

  • Mentor and coach future product leaders, ensuring robust succession planning.

8. Stakeholder & Ecosystem Engagement

  • Manage relationships with fintech partners, vendors, and product development collaborators.

  • Represent the product function in board meetings, investor discussions, and strategic planning forums.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Required Skills:
Education:

  • Master’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related field.

Experience & Expertise

  • 8+ years of product leadership experience in fintech, digital banking, or financial services.

  • Proven success in launching and scaling digital financial products, including: Digital lending, BNPL, and Insurtech platforms Mobile wallets, credit/debit cards, and digital payments

  • Deep understanding of product design, agile frameworks, and customer experience optimization.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data, understand market dynamics, and apply business insights to design customer-centric products that are scalable, sustainable, and aligned with strategic objectives
