Job Description

Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) is an international non-profit organization mandated to work with people around the world to eradicate poverty and injustice. Guided by its vision of ‘Together for a Just World’, NCA provides humanitarian assistance and supports long-term development. NCA is affiliated with the World Council of Churches and is a member of the ACT Alliance with a presence in 31 countries worldwide. 

In Ethiopia, NCA has been operating since 1974, marking 50 years of service in the country this year. NCA’s programs are implemented together with local faith-based partners. NCA is a member of various civil society networks, coordination mechanisms, and clusters in Ethiopia. In its current strategic period (2025-2029), NCA Ethiopia implements programs focused on Climate Resilient Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (CRWASH); Climate and Environment Stewardship/Economic Development and Food Security; Peacebuilding; Gender-Based Violence/Sexual/ Reproductive Health; and Humanitarian Emergency Response.

NCA has an Internship Program, offering on-the-job learning to qualified and young graduates with a particular focus on female applicants. Accordingly, applicants who fulfill the requirements are invited to apply for this opportunity.

Job overview 
Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) is offering an exciting internship opportunity in its Peacebuilding Program. The intern will support the implementation of NCA’s new NORAD-funded project. Responsibilities include organizing and supporting project events (trainings, workshops, meetings), documenting minutes, uploading key documents to PIMS, and assisting with reporting. The intern will gain hands-on experience in peacebuilding project planning and coordination and will be expected to travel frequently to project sites.

Position Title:                   Intern (Peace Building Program)

Number Required:            1 Position

Reports to:                       Head of Peace Building Program

Duty Station:                    Addis Ababa with frequent travel to project sites

Length of Contract:          Three months with a possibility of extension based on fund availability

Basic Salary:                    As per NCA’s internship scheme

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: The ideal candidate is a recent graduate (2024/2025) with a first degree in Peace Building, Sociology or Anthropology, or Geography with an average of 3.5 and above. The candidate should provide a document that shows he/she successfully passed the exit exam.

  • Technical skills: A skillset in using Microsoft Office suites. 

  • Languages: Proficiency in Amharic and English is required. Knowledge or proficiency in other local languages is an advantage.

Personal skills and attributes:

  • Positive, flexible, and open to learning.

  • Strong integrity and competence.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.

  • Willing and able to travel to remote areas where NCA operates frequently.
