In its current strategic period (2025-2029), NCA Ethiopia implements programs focused on Climate Resilient Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (CRWASH); Climate and Environment Stewardship/Economic Development and Food Security; Peacebuilding; Gender-Based Violence/Sexual/ Reproductive Health; and Humanitarian Emergency Response.

NCA would like to invite interested and qualified internal/external applicants for the following positions
Position Title: Livelihood Project Officer – (Soap Production)
Number Required 1 Position
Reports to: Field Office Coordinator, Gambella
Duty Station: Punigido Town, Gambella Region
Length of Contract: One year with a possibility of extension based on fund availability and performance
Basic Salary: ETB 67,700
Job Summary:
The Livelihood project officer (Soap production project) will manage and support the soap production component of a UNHCR-funded Livelihood and Economic Inclusion project. This role involves providing technical assistance to refugee business groups in Pungido, one refugee camp, for the production of bar and liquid soaps intended for the local market. Responsibilities include supporting small business groups' legalization processes and monitoring daily activities.
Ensure the effective implementation of the Soap production initiative in Pungido One refugee camp, including management of the SME groups.
Participate and develop beneficiary selection criteria according to the project scope and contextual analysis.
Contribute and engage in the business plan development for the soap-making project.
Closely work with the Project officer /chemical Engineer and assist him in the training and capacity-building activities.
Work in collaboration with RRS, UNHCR, and local government in the establishment of the business groups.
Create good communication and collaboration with the RCC leaders, the refugee community, and HC members.
Promote and ensure community participation in the development of the soap product in refugee camps, market assessments, and advocacy.
Provide support to the day-to-day implementation of the project related to capacity strengthening of the community, women's economic empowerment, and creating social cohesion among communities.
Conduct regular field visits and facilitate the project activity implementation at each location in close collaboration with the Project Officer.
Support the business groups to have business licenses, work permits, and related legal documents in close collaboration with the Local Government, RRS, and UNHCR.
Maintain good working relationships and communication with NCA partners and other major stakeholders at Camp and other platforms.
Use project-related resources effectively and responsibly.
Take regular field notes that can be produced as success stories and documentation of best practices of projects.
Undertake any other duties as directed by the Field Coordinator and Chemical Engineer, appropriate and within the post holder's capabilities.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and related fields, and knowledge of Soap making.
A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in soap production; where two years working on community-based business initiatives, cooperative management, and micro and small enterprises business development in the humanitarian and development contexts.
Required skills & abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and staff management skills.
Excellent English writing and communication skills including report preparation.
Strong organization skills, dynamic, flexible, proactive, coachable, and disciplined
Professionalism, accountability, problem-solving, ability to give positive feedback to partner reports and challenges encountered.
Virtual skills for managing communications, and project monitoring.
Local language (has an added value) and English language (high proficiency) both written and verbal.
Strong personal integrity and commitment to accountability.
