Job Description
Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) is an international non-profit organization mandated to work with people around the world to eradicate poverty and injustice. In Ethiopia, NCA has been operating since 1974, marking 50 years of service in the country this year. NCA’s programs are implemented together with local faith-based partners. NCA is a member of various civil society networks, coordination mechanisms, and clusters in Ethiopia. In its current strategic period (2025-2029), NCA Ethiopia implements programs focused on Climate Resilient Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (CRWASH); Climate and Environment Stewardship/Economic Development and Food Security; Peacebuilding; Gender-Based Violence/Sexual/ Reproductive Health; and Humanitarian Emergency Response.
NCA is a member of the ACT Alliance, a coalition of organizations working together in over 140 countries to create positive and sustainable change in people’s lives.
NCA would like to invite interested and qualified internal/external applicants for the following positions.
The Emergency Project Coordinator position is a new position under the humanitarian response program to provide overall managerial support, programs, and finance for the drought response project being implemented by NCA in partnership with EOC-DICAC at Bugna Woreda in North Wello Zone of the Amhara region. The position holder will be responsible for providing broad support to the development, implementation, monitoring, and follow-up of EOC-DICAC’s humanitarian response program supported by the NCA Humanitarian Own Fund in the CRWASH, GBV, and CES sectors. S/he is responsible for program management including design, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation, and reviewing financial and material management in close consultation with EOC-DICAC and NCA finance team in line with NCA’s policies and procedures. He/she is also responsible for stakeholder management, regular attendance of zonal and woreda coordination platforms, and ensuring the delivery of projects in line with the sphere and CHS standards.

Provide regular updates to the country office about the humanitarian situations in the project areas and of the region.
Participate in joint regional cluster monitoring and learning. The humanitarian program coordinator also will communicate with the regional government office representing NCA.
Facilitate government agreements at regional as well as zonal levels.
S/he is also responsible for monitoring and assessing implementation progress, identifying barriers and constraints, and working collaboratively with partners and NCA teams to devise solutions.
Support the Head of the Humanitarian Program in ensuring the projects’ grant refers to technical standards and considers government standards.
Provide broad support to the development, implementation, monitoring, and follow-up of EOC-DICAC’s humanitarian response project supported by the NCA Humanitarian Own Fund in the Amhara region constituting CRWASH, GBV, and CES sectors.
He/she will provide technical support to NCA’s implementing partners, monitor and follow up on the overall performance of the humanitarian program in Lasta/Bugna, and share field monitoring reports.
He/she will provide support for effective project implementation and advise partners for better and quality service delivery, be involved in the rapid assessment, provide training to staff, proposal development, project monitoring and report writing for humanitarian programs, contribute to preparing head office as well as donors reports following their requirement.
Building strong and collaborative relationships with government partners, NCA’s core and resource partners, and thematic teams, providing oversight, and direction, and ensuring coordination of partner programs to implement annual work plans and deliver high-impact results.
Ensuring appropriate community involvement in the multi-sector Humanitarian response project design and delivery
Master's or Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Sociology, Development Economics, Development and Humanitarian Practice, WASH, Public Health, Disaster Risk Management, or Humanitarian Action studies.
A minimum of 5/7 years progressive experience in emergency response context, in developing and promoting collaborative partnerships in emergency and humanitarian relief operations, including experience in managing and coordinating health programs in chronic and acute, sudden onset emergencies.
Required skills & abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and staff management skills.
Excellent English writing and communication skills including report preparation.
Strong organization skills, dynamic, flexible, proactive, coachable, and disciplined
Professionalism, accountability, problem-solving, ability to give positive feedback to partner reports and challenges encountered.
Virtual skills for managing communications, and project monitoring.
Knowledge of the local language is a plus.
