The Head of Quality Assurance (QA) oversees and implements quality control and assurance activities in a printing and packaging facility specializing in paper labels and packaging products, flexible packaging, and other packaging materials. This role ensures that all products meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards while driving continuous improvement in quality and safety processes.

Quality Management & Compliance:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 22000 (Food Safety), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

  • Ensure that all printed materials, including beer labels and flexible packaging, meet customer requirements and regulatory standards.

  • Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for quality control, product inspection, and testing.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points).

Quality Control & Testing:

  • Oversee quality control inspections at various production stages (pre-press, printing, converting, and packaging).

  • Ensure raw materials (inks, substrates, adhesives) meet quality standards before use in production.

  • Implement laboratory testing for print durability, color accuracy, adhesion, and migration (for food contact materials).

  • Investigate and resolve quality issues, customer complaints, and non-conformances, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Process Improvement & Waste Reduction:

  • Analyze quality performance data and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reduce defects.

  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve efficiency.

  • Train staff on best practices for quality, food safety, and hygiene.

Supplier & Customer Quality Assurance:

  • Evaluate and audit suppliers to ensure consistent quality of raw materials.

  • Work closely with customers to understand their quality expectations and address any concerns.

  • Lead customer audits, factory inspections, and regulatory compliance assessments.

    Team Leadership & Training:

  • Manage and supervise the QA team, including inspectors and analysts.

  • Conduct training sessions for employees on quality control procedures and food safety guidelines.

  • Foster a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement among staff.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in quality management, Printing Technology, Food Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

  • At least 10 years of experience, including a minimum of five years in quality management and at least three years in a leadership role within the printing and packaging industry, preferably in food packaging.

  • Strong knowledge of printing processes such as flexography and gravure.

  • Experience with food packaging safety standards and regulatory compliance
